Xie Lian has to channel a sexy Pirate King and all things that he is absolutely not. Because he is kind of hopeless at this, all of his attempts will be trying to emulate his husband's style and demeanor with varying levels of success.
He will also be relying a bit on his experience as a street performer whose main trick was to smash boulders on his chest, which will probably be a hoot in the seedy taverns of Taravast. Yet there will also be rumors of this Pirate King being strangely kind to all sorts of beggars and stray children.
In true Pirate King fashion, the female population will be abuzz with trying to gain his /ahem, attention, and nobles might want to ply him with a healthy supply of whores because, well, pirates like whores, right?
Soon, rumors will spread among the population of the ladies of the night. First, if you can get the gig, it ends up being pretty sweet because the guy isn't even interested in sex, all he does is feed you and listen to your troubles and lets you sleep in the bed and then sends you home with money. But also, as to fend off too many advances, Xie Lian will imply that his heart has been stolen by their famous chef Xiao Xingchen and he is pining fruitlessly. THAT rumor will spread like wild fire and set some of the ladies, nobles or otherwise, to try and see the tragic love story come to fruition. Nothing bad can come of this, surely.
Xie Lian will otherwise use his status as a pirate to try and keep publicly neutral about most issues with the excuse that he is here for the money. But he can help break protesters out of jail, and he might tell their patron Macaluso that using love to advance politically is actually not that great. But as a general rule, he tries to not get too involved in human political affairs, so he'll mostly look out for people and use the fact that he is a pirate and of couse entirely selfishly motivated to excuse anything that might seem out of character, like helping people from the other side. This will make some people think he is amenable to be bribed to change sides, maybe?
