dementors
submitted by: lily evans ( [personal profile] lancifolium )

WORLD OF ORIGIN: Harry Potter
HOW MANY PRESENT? two

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Floating skeletal wraith-like creatures that are approximately 10 feet high, and covered in ragged black robes, a gif for reference and a bonus money shot.

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR: Dementors hunt in groups and surround an enemy. They will likely be with the greater portion of The Huntress's entourage, but will splinter off to hunt if they sense someone with a good deal of positivity.

ATTACKS: from the Wiki — Dementors sensed and fed on the positive emotions of human beings to survive, forcing their victims to relive their worst memories over and over again. The very presence of a Dementor could make the victim's surrounding atmosphere grow cold and dark, and as the number of Dementors increased, so did the effects.

WEAKNESSES: Focusing on things like obsession, or other thoughts and feelings that bring strength without positivity, can help with resisting Dementors. Holy varieties of magic should also work!

bloody hands
submitted by: eleven ( [personal profile] bearshermark )

WORLD OF ORIGIN: Dragon Quest (XI)
HOW MANY PRESENT? twelve, with mod permission

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: the disembodied bloody hands of dead monsters/people. A wiki for a generic picture.

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR: They like to pop up out of the ground and grab people with their bloody fingers!

ATTACKS: Their only ability is to grasp things and call for others of their kind.

WEAKNESSES: Their grip is strong, but they're physically weak. It doesn't take much to kill one. A sharp or crushing weapon, fire spells — anything that could break, sever, or else destroy a hand covered in blood.

macra
submitted by: the doctor ( [personal profile] funnylittleclown )

WORLD OF ORIGIN: Doctor Who
HOW MANY PRESENT? five

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Giant crab. The Macra are larger than a human, capable of lifting a full grown person in their claws, and have bright glowing yellow eyes.

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR: They require poisonous air to survive, so they could be found in any location with bad miasma. The sewers come to mind, or perhaps being around the decaying undead could maintain them. Maybe they could even be attracted to the smoke from fires.

ATTACKS: They are psychic creatures capable of controlling the minds of others. Generally they get into a person's head while they are sleeping and while this influence can be fought it takes some people longer to break free than others. The Macra are physically strong, can skitter along as fast as any crab, and their exoskeleton acts like armor.

WEAKNESSES: Their eye sight isn't the greatest, and if their supply of foul air is terminated, they will suffocate.

thestrals
submitted by: hermione granger ( [personal profile] reparo )

WORLD OF ORIGING: Harry Potter
HOW MANY PRESENT? four

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: raise your hand if you're a death horse girl

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR: Wherever there is blood, they'll be there. Thestrals show themselves to those who have witnessed death (being dead yourself or seeing someone die or finding a dead person). For those who have not, they're invisible — which makes them fun! They run in a pack, are carnivorous, and when untamed, can be aggressive.

ATTACKS: Headbutt, hoofkick, terrify people, maybe chew on corpses.

WEAKNESSES: You can kill it, but imagine how much cooler it would be to tame one and ride an invisible flying horse?

droideka
submitted by: slick ( [personal profile] sergeant_slick )

WORLD OF ORIGIN: Star Wars
HOW MANY PRESENT? two

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: An organic, magical version of these horrible rolly bois. All droid parts have been replaced with flesh and exoskeleton. They have no visible eyes, but do have a number of antennae and sensory pits on their head. They stand 183 cm tall (6') when unfolded. They have clawed forelimbs, which are marked with unpleasant-looking runes. Another set of runes is visible on their abdomen.

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR: Droidekas are mainly found rolled up in an O R B, which is fast-moving and compact, able to move over rough terrain or traverse stairs if necessary. Once they find something they want to severely distress, they unfold, activate their shield runes, and begin to pummel the bejeezus out of everything. The shields are no joke, anything short of light artillery will struggle to get through these things. Lightsabers aren't effective either. When unfolded, droidekas are hard to topple and hit like an angry bus, but they move at a slow walking pace.

ATTACKS: Two magical runes on their claws that let them fire energy blasts at a rate of about 2/second. Anybody who gets in close may also get poked by the claws.

WEAKNESSES: There's a weak point on the shield at the very top, which still protects, them but can be breached with something sufficiently powerful (lightsabers, magical weapons, comically large ACME weights, etc). They're at their most vulnerable when they're unfolding. Once they get their shields up, options are more limited. The shield generator can be shorted out by toppling the droid. Stationary or slow-moving objects can get inside the shield, so with precise timing they can be taken down by traps. If you don't have a way to do either of those, the best strategy is to run and stay out of the line of fire for long enough that they're forced to fold up and pursue.

nexu
submitted by: anakin skywalker ( [personal profile] chosenfordarkness )

WORLD OF ORIGIN: Star Wars
HOW MANY PRESENT? four

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A predatory feline with four red eyes and a row of sharp quills along the shoulders. One pair of eyes has infrared vision to track prey. They have an overly wide mouth full of sharp teeth and claws perfect for climbing.

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR: They're prime hunters and dwell in forested areas. If those proved to be fruitless, they would wander toward wherever they thought they could get a meal.

ATTACKS: Claws, many teeth, spikes and the barbed tail.

WEAKNESSES: It's pretty vulnerable to bludgeoning or piercing damage, though anything tough would probably work.
