"Captain" will already make her curious, especially since a quest like this obviously needs leader types. She is likely to ask for a story. And then quietly size him up if he tells it. More-so if he doesn't! She can be creepily perceptive if that is something you ever want to play with, otherwise I'll err on the side of caution.
