Honestly he might not, just on the logic that he might still need to assist as being bait himself in some way so he might as well start how he means to go on. If he's gonna be a dragon at some point, might as well just Be A Dragon from the start when he can actually say 'also, don't shoot at me' instead of halfway through as a surprise.

People tend sometimes get really upset about surprise dragons.
