You do it every time you insert yourself in another dimension's timeline you don't belong in. Technically we're all doing that here, and you see how that's gone.

Well...I'm going to have to just keep doing it, because I'm not entirely sure how I get back home after I leave here. I'm kind of stuck in another dimension, right now.

I didn't have a chance to think. Most of them were accidents. Some of them were jump or die.

We don't know enough about how it happens to say your powers had nothing to do with it. If nothing else, it made you a more likely candidate to wind up here.
