Well, young Eleven, luck smiles upon you. If there is one thing Mazyar admires even better than his own person, it is cleanliness. He equips Eleven with several buckets and pails and ladles, along with torn cloth for wiping rocks and ground. He pays a handsome 500 coins an hour for this great service, for a total of 5,000 across the entire assignment. The very spirit of grace.

For some ponds, Eleven will only have to collect the oil-like tar that accrues above water. For others, he will have to immerse himself in the ponds to reach the tar, exposing himself both to wildlife (particularly snakes) and to the substance's magic. To confirm, he will be vulnerable to the effect of the tar and the inevitability of staring into it throughout — I leave it up to you if and to what extent he will be affected.

Within some of the tar he collects, he will find pieces of aged, chipped bone — human, with carvings. The tar is very warm to the touch, burning the longer Eleven's hand stays within it. If he throws the tar away, he will notice it lashes out in thin rivulets, somehow entering canyon rock. If he burns it, he will observe it catches fire incredibly easily, without causing an explosion.
