I feel like I could potentially hit some things for Marcos or Five here, but I'm not sure which you think would work best or who you want CR for most. I mean, could do both eventually but it's a case of who FIRST so I don't overload on threads.
Five and Wrathion could probably vibe on pragmatism and being young-appearing characters, though Wrathion was like artificially-messed-with child vs stuck in younger body but actually old. He also once thought he knew best and tried to fix things with time travel, so he's got a time travel thing.
He's not an expert exactly on curses, but he's an expert on corruption which gives lingering bad effects and is in general a magic wielder so he could have a look at least and potentially feel some vibes, depending on how its meant to work?
Wrathion could also help Marcos with sewing tbh. He does a lot of crafting in canon, including making cloaks. For some reason he loves to make enchanted cloaks. He's not a telepath, but he is bluntly pragmatic so he might be good at poking Marcos into hotheaded outbursts? He, uh, also has massively traumatic family history since he comes from a villainous family who one by one went insane and who he helped get.... killed..... for the greater good.... after another family of dragons experimented on him.... as a child.......
He's fine. It's fine. Why would anyone be messed up after that? He's very normal, he knows how to handle emotions just fine.
That's a lot to work with for both of them, so whichever strikes your fancy! Five got stuck in his body by his own miscalculation in time travel, so it's just a daily reminder of failure. HE'S a little touchy and thinks everyone should just be able to tell he's older than he looks. Mention time travel and brace for All The Opinions because he knows everything. Having recently befriended the devil, he might throw him some casual "so are you a demon" questions because of the eye thing. He's still getting used to this.
The long curse story: Five has a tiny piece of a cursed mirror in him that he got after killing a dead body for the Merchant many months ago. It can absorb anguish in very small amounts from people, but over time it drove him crazy and led to him smashing another mirror thinking it might help release what he'd absorbed. (Which was a smart idea! But it helped lead to that whole thing back in October. So far only one person + the Merchant knows he helped cause this so shh.) He didn't trust anyone in Taravast enough to deal with it, and the shards from the mirror he broke took out the anguish and he thought he was fine now. But it was a bandaid, because it's still inside him. Just needs to learn how to control it and release it so he won't go crazy again and it'll be fine! In the meantime he can help people feel better by taking in small amounts of their anguish... it's 5-15% efficient, please don't abuse.
Marcos would completely gravitate towards Wrathion tbh. He's been around a lot of mutants who have had shit done to them, and he's patient to a point. But if he started to go off on something that seemed easier but went against his principles he'll absolutely have something to say about it. He's a nice guy but he's also very emotional and gets heated over these things.
He'd be extremely sympathetic to his backstory though, so one thing can lead to the other after he learns more about him. (Especially the experimenting part, oof.) Marcos used to be in a cartel and blinded and burned people on the regular for information, but he's not that person anymore and is willing to give people all the chances. He's been betrayed by the woman he loves and still took her back, man. He knows they're all each other have to get through this.
I CONTEMPLATED THIS A LOT and I think you got the devil doing your de-curse shenanigans and more helpful than Wrathion would be, so maybe we can save setting up a Five and Wrathion encounter for when Wrathion has a better hook so he can be actively useful to Five. So we could maybe start with the Marcos angle -- it'll take time for Wrathion to warm up enough to trust Marcos with personal things anyway but if Marcos is sympathetic and can tolerate Wrathion being a little cool at first it's probably an easy enough thing.
I did throw a wall of text at you, but context seemed important! I don't know where the curse thing is going to ultimately go, but I'm getting all my milage out of it. Five is never short on problems and explaining to everyone how under control they are until the blow up.
Marcos won't pry, he's helped very traumatized people before so he'll probably pick up on the signs. After Taravast, and the whole dead witches situation, he'll be trying a little harder to get to know the people in their group anyway. And Wrathion stands out for some reasons, it's very likely to happen.
