A playful girl who would have gladly sacked a city, if she had ever seen one. But she was born north of the Wall.

The Free Folk were cut off from the world, trapped beyond the Wall with the White Walkers. The Night’s Watch was not kind to them, and Wildling raiders were not kind to villages in the Gift. The Free Folk are independent, and tough-minded, and loyal to their own; they rely only on themselves and on friends. But they had little love for the Wall or its defenders or the people who wanted to kill them or leave them to die.

As to the girl — aye, you might say that. She died fighting.

Depends on the clan. They have their own villages — or they did, once. They left their lands to escape the threat.

I have found them to be good and loyal friends, once you make friends of them. They have their reasons for their hatreds. We have treated them like animals at times. And Northmen have had their reasons for hating them: they have raided villages, stolen goods, stolen girls to make brides of them.

I think Ygritte would have liked you. Or she might have tried to kill you. Can’t say.

Your Free Folk remind me of the Dothraki. Respect is earned, not expected. It would be something that I would appreciate. Though, the stealing of brides, that must stop. I will not tolerate such things. Whether they accept me as a queen or not, I will not allow women to be harmed in such a way.

I am amazed that such a woman would win you, but perhaps, not so surprised.

They don’t raid the North anymore. They live there, by my leave. Just now, they hold Eastwatch, because the Watch alone no longer has the strength to man it in the way that’s needed.

I would not put it that way, that she won me. Only that I cared for her, and that I tried to give her the funeral rites she would have wanted.

After the Lannisters murdered my brother and a good portion of the North’s strength, they installed their own creature, a traitor, Roose Bolton. Ramsay was his son.
