They give him a whistle that will call to him any fox spirit within a small radius, provided he's on forest or sacred grounds. Shout when you want to use it.
Wheel of Time | Moiraine: for exerting herself against the volcano, and helping discover the truth of Anui, she receives a pendant that contains one of the spirits of the volcano, who desperately wishes to flee the villages. The spirit is weak and cannot always talk back, but it sometimes murmurs words of comfort, or speaks to Moiraine. Player's choice if it was a man or woman.
