activity check + arc iv + badges...
All hail, spring is over — happy June! A bit of admin with your day:
ACTIVITY CHECK
To pass activity requirements, you need to have produced one of: 1 network post or 5 log comments or 10 network/text-style comments in the month of check. Activity can be carried out in game communities or in character inboxes.
In May, insufficient activity was found for:
- Cato |
unpurposed
Delilah |alterare — RECLAIMED
Slick |sergeant_slick — swept as a result of two consecutive strikes.
Drop a line by 23:59 on 5 June to reclaim a character, or if they have activity that wasn't appropriately recorded.
ADMIN & ARC IV
■ By a wide vote margin, the people have spoken, and our Arc IV destination is A Tale of Two Cities — expect steampunk, otherness, very strange architecture, a diplomatic school, and two cities intermittently occupying the same structures, their residents accusing each other of being... inhuman.
■ Ahead of that, the group sets out on a roughly six-week
■ Sea sickness brews, feeding for Kaneki Ken and balance for Viktor's limp are already accounted for — but please holler if your character also needs accommodations at sea.
■ To celebrate the very first time the party leaves an Arc location in a better state than they found it, please check out individual character gifts. An attempt was made to make these fun, unique and a memento of some plot involvement, but if you're not having fun with your character's gift, give a shout!
■ Our upcoming event, due live on 3 June, doubles as a test drive meme (TDM). It will be open publicly, and anyone who plays on the TDM will not require an invite during the 10-17 June application session. Apps will once again briefly open in late July, but will be invite-only at the time.
■ UPDATED: the June calendar, alongside the Story So far summary of Arc III and the Undead Lieges write-up with the latest reveals.
ARC III BADGES
They're here, have no fear! If you've never played this: you can grab a wallet and cram it with general mood badges or Arc-specific ones. This is purely for fun, and you can pick whatever badges you think describe the
HOUSE OF RAVENS
Share with the class in the comments — what does your character's badge wallet look like these days?

And here you thought being decent human beings wouldn't pay off.
Please find your character's gift in the comments below, listed alphabetically, by canon name. CTRL + F for your character's name miiight be easiest.
CANON NAME: A - L
Arcane | Viktor: a walking cane featuring a wolf sculpt, from his lycanthropic buddies. Definitely one to worn on first dates. It seems to keep forest creatures away.
Baldur's Gate | Astarion: after taking down priests in the House of Ravens, Astarion inherits all of their jewels and regalia (amounting to 7,000 coins) and, should he choose to accept it... the temple's luck-bearing large white raven. Careful: you take it, you feed it.
Game of Thrones | Jon Snow: a handsome bow that nearly never misses and two sacred incense holders from his friendly fox shrines. No quiver. Foxes ran out of coin.
The Gifted | Lorna Dane: a new set of sturdy, woollen clothes, perfect for forest hiking. Nearly impossible to tear, and somehow suitable for any temperature.
The Gifted | Marcos Diaz: a jar of fresh home ale and three small pouches of local seeds, including to a magically fast-growing species of corn that can easily feed about three families (and one famished party).
Hakuoki | Hijikata Toshizou: a beautiful, fine steel and needle thin dagger, good for stabbing or magically deft at lock-picking. The aesthetics are player's choice.
Hakuoki | Okita Souji: an equally beautiful, fine steel and needle thing dagger with an unexpectedly dull blade and a blunt tip. Everything this dagger attempts, it fails to do. If it ever manages to enter a lock, it ruins it, without removing it. If it's used to stab, it misses the mark and barely scratches. Best bad luck knife.
Harry Potter | Hermione: for absorbing the volcano magic, a medical vial from the witches of the Fetters that can cure nearly any sickness. Can only be used once, and not against the effects of the volcanic absorption.
Husky and His White Cat Shizun | Chu Wanning: a beautifully carved wooden compass that cannot fail to show north.
Kingdom of the Wicked | Emilia: for discovering the agonised volcano spirits and easing them, a pendant to makes her more susceptible to spirits around her, within a small radius.
Kingdom of the Wicked | Wrath: for discovering the agonised volcano spirits and easing them, a ring that lets him take strength (either by bolstering his magic or his stamina) from the dead around him, within a small radius.
Mo Dao Zu Shi | Xiao Xingchen: for absorbing the volcano magic, a medical vial from the witches of the Fetters that can cure nearly any sickness. Can only be used once, and not against the effects of the volcanic absorption.
Mo Dao Zu Shi | Xue Yang: somehow, the villagers just know — an arm's fill of fresh dates and candied fruit, and a pouch of bitter sweets to help with fever sickness.
Legend of Fei | Xie Yun: for absorbing the volcano magic, a medical vial from the witches of the Fetters that can cure nearly any sickness. Can only be used once, and not against the effects of the volcanic absorption.
CANON NAME: O - T
Oh! My Emperor | Beitang Moran: a letter dictated by his new friend Hyang Tai, wishing him luck and human kindness in his life as an oracle. And a very small vial of particularly vicious naga poison.
Oh! My Emperor | Su Sunxian: optional/you may reject the gift — a small fox cub that approaches Su Xunxian, begging passage east in... fox tongue. It is a sprit that wishes to set up its new shrine in an untarnished place.
Original | Winnifred Prismall: for one of the most beautiful women they've seen, a selection of carved or semi-precious jewellery of particular delicacy. These can fetch a darling price (of around 10,000 coins).
The Owl House | Eda: for her work flying in water, a very generously large, beautiful mantle that can comfortably shield her wings, should she choose to have them out but hidden from sight.
Shadowhunters | Magnus Bane: a treat only a magician could love — a jar of volcano ashes, perfect to scatter as wards and keep out evil. Yes, you're carrying dead people.
A Song of Ice and Fire | Daenerys: touched by Daenerys' attempt to find her nephew, Hyang-Tai asks help from the children of the village to jointly braid and give her a crown of flowers and silver wire. It's not a master jeweller's work, but some might call it a gift suited for a queen.
Sword of Frost | Yun Yifeng: the Ke-Waiar envoy sends over a beautifully illustrated book on the history of magical beasts... and a betrothal proposal. Huh. Who'd have thought?
Tian Guan Ci Fu | Xie Lian: for giving Taksui his due (verbally or ideally by hand), the brothers of the Hok-Shinn clan all crowdfund roughly 10,000 coins of a silent donation. Sairen and Weisi contribute another 5,000. No one likes Taksui.
Tokyo Ghoul | Kaneki Ken: after witnessing his peculiar shape during the House of Ravens showdowns, the villagers of Ke-Waicai believe Kaneki to be not unlike the agonising spirits of the volcano. They offer him a small wooden music box whose song can temporarily soothe tempers.
Touken Ranbu | Kanesada: for his sound sword work at the House of Ravens, Kanesada receives an oil that briefly amplifies the cut of his blade and either partially warms or chills what it touches (pick one).
Triangle Strategy | Jens Macher: everything and anything he wants to pilfer out of a forge, as long as he can carry it, or get someone else to. Anything. Even the bricks.

CANON NAME: U - X
Umbrella Academy | Allison Hargreeves: for absorbing the volcano magic, a medical vial from the witches of the Fetters that can cure nearly any sickness. Can only be used once, and not against the effects of the volcanic absorption.
Umbrella Academy | Diego Hargreeves: as the slayer of the Beastmaster, patron to the villages, Diego is initially given a wide berth by elders — but sought out later by the youth of Ke-Waihu, who understand it was only a matter of time until the lord of the beasts came to collect them as tributes. They offer him a coffer of their paltry, but warmly given possessions: fresh clothes, new boots, a coarse but well meaning dagger, a standard quiver and bow. All engraved, bearing his name.
Umbrella Academy | Five Hargreeves: 15,000 coins, when the men of the forge see him around the village and think he's the ghost of the boy who disappeared in their workshop. Please don't haunt them. Take the money. Just... take it.
The Untamed | Jiang Cheng: he is approached by the tributes he lustily infiltrated to free one night — they take Jiang Cheng out for wining and dining. They are young, with scant means, but they offer him a delicately carved silver pin with a precious jewel of your choice. A young man says his pregnant betrothed will name their child for him.
The Untamed | Lan Sizhui: for helping ease the spirits of the volcano and chill the waters, a vial whose potion keeps the drinker impervious to the elements for an hour, from the witches of Fetters. You'd think they would have handed that out before? Only usable twice.
The Untamed | Wei Wuxian: for easing the resentful volcano spirits, a ring of quiet: when the piece is worn, Wei Wuxian cannot be sensed or in turn sense spirits with low or moderate strength.
The Untamed | Wen Qing: after her adventures in the snake pit, Wen Qing receives a vial of potent anti-venom from the witches of the Fetters and, should she wish to accept it, a young albino snake.
Warcraft | Anduin: the mastermind of aid to the villages, Anduin receives an offer to stay back and help rule and, from Weisi, a letter of introduction to the Merchants' Guild. Weisi advises not to show it to... that Merchant.
Warcraft | Wrathion: villagers might not have connected the dots between Wrathion and the immense dragon that besieged the forests, but the fox spirits remember — and they know him for one of their own. They give him a whistle that will call to him any fox spirit within a small radius, provided he's on forest or sacred grounds. Shout when you want to use it.
Wheel of Time | Moiraine: for exerting herself against the volcano, and helping discover the truth of Anui, she receives a pendant that contains one of the spirits of the volcano, who desperately wishes to flee the villages. The spirit is weak and cannot always talk back, but it sometimes murmurs words of comfort, or speaks to Moiraine. Player's choice if it was a man or woman.
Word of Honor | Zhou Zishu: for absorbing the volcano magic, a medical vial from the witches of the Fetters that can cure nearly any sickness. Can only be used once, and not against the effects of the volcanic absorption. — and yes, it can be used to permanently heal Zhou Zishu's home world nail illness.
X/1999 | Sumeragi Subaru: no village gifts for Subaru, but he has his very own cabin on the Pariah, choice cuts of dinner and, as a nominal pirate (that's right, adopted in), he gets a small share of any loot. Whether he wants it or not.
