Hello, hello! Welcome to all our fresh meat, may we never go hungry again — if you’re looking to kindle fresh friendships, rivalries and/or romance:

OCTOBER CR MEME

o1. Make your own shiny ad or use the form below to find your character someone who won’t backstab them in the night. Maybe.

o2. Spam like your life depends on it.

o3. Profit, baby, profit.

But wait. You want to give an even more in-depth idea of your character, or just really like rating things? Score your character 1 (■□□□□ — Strongly Disagree) to 5 (■■■■■ — Strongly Agree) on the below statements. You can add notes, if you want!

Kahl-175 |⍓| Warframe

PLAYER: Spider
PREFERRED CONTACT: CellarSpider#9984
CHARACTER & CANON: Kahl-175, from Warframe

ARE THEY BASED IN EIDRIS OR MINARAS: Eidris!

THEIR ONE-SENTENCE ELEVATOR PITCH: Disabled cyborg clone loses brothers, eyeball, faith, and free will, rebounds by collecting dozens of new brothers while fighting slavery, aliens, and an empire, while still having time to fail at fishing.

A PET PEEVE THAT GETS THEIR TEETH GRITTING: People talking down to him because of his dysfluency.

WHAT SPARKS THEIR JOY: Brothers, ugly gifts, and stuffed animals, AKA in Warframe 'floofs'.

WHAT ARE THEY UP TO? Kahl is finding his feet, but has one primary, overarching objective: Find out how the undead are pulling people to this planet, and make sure it's stopped. Otherwise, his brothers back at home will always be in danger. In the short term, he's also suspicious about how dragons are treated here: people talking about breeding them for work or war sounds an awful lot like how Grineer like Kahl were first made, and he knows what that led to for his people.

Also just in general, Kahl is extremely sociable and will make friends with anything that sits still for long enough, and isn't a complete jerk. Especially for anyone who's ever experienced slavery--he's your brother, no questions asked.

CR/SCENARIOS YOU WANT: Honestly? If anybody's curious about this big (like, 6'10"/210cm big) cyborg guy with an eyepatch, speech dysfluency and a face charitably described as "homely", have at! He's also focused on the main plot, and, well, he has combat armor and a gun. He's a good sort to have in a fight, and as a cyborg with a rough life, he's a deft hand with repairing or tweaking robotics and machinery, so long as he understands the mechanism.

Kahl is very sociable overall, and anybody who wants a solid friend on their side, he's here! He's also had zero life experience outside of the army or freedom-fighting, so things like "shops" and "restaurants" and "comfy furniture" are completely unknown to him, and he's definitely got some curiosity about the world. If anybody wants to help introduce him to the occasional nice thing, he'd appreciate it!

I'm totally down for more negative interactions, though. Kahl looks and sounds like a brute, so people often assume he's stupid. He will straighten people out if they treat him like less than them. Sometimes that may mean he goes away to collect his thoughts and comes back with a lecture, sometimes he just pulls a prank. But if somebody shows the inclination to change their behavior, whether they acknowledge it or not, he won't reject them entirely.

I honestly think Lucy could relate a lot to kahl as all her friends/brethren died twice on her. plus she's generally curious about him too

Kahl can definitely relate to that. And he seems to have decent ways to cope with it too, if that'd help Lucy! I'm not familiar with Edgerunners, but the cyberpunk genre and the Warframe setting are sort of distant cousins, so they've got a bit of general common ground as well.

they do a lot yes! I'm not as into Warframe but I've peaked it's way before.

but yeah I think these two could really get down to some heavy feels
kahl_175: Kahl having hard time understanding this (what)

[personal profile] kahl_175 2022-10-15 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It is absolutely bonkers once you get into the plot and worldbuilding, I highly recommend that aspect of it at the very least. Nowhere else have I seen a community get so goddamn blindsided by the answers to basic questions like "So what's the deal with these guy's heads?" or "Wait a minute, who am I?", and both devs and fans work so hard to not spoil the surprises for newbies.

Feels are definitely a thing Kahl can provide. I mean. I made a journal for him back when he had 12.5 minutes of canon, based entirely on feels alone.

Awesome! Just a warning that if you play more, pick-up teams with players will occasionally contain brief, strange things that are spoilers for one of the plot points. It won't explain anything about those spoilers, though. And there's definitely lore that's been stuffed into the game from really early on--some of the real important stuff about the Grineer was hiding in unlockable parts of the game's codex for years before the main plot really kicked in. If you like real deep timelines and lore, I thoroughly recommend three codex functions, in ascending order of obscurity: the Leverian, completing Synthesis scans for Cephalon Simaris, and using a codex or synthesis scanner to scan Cephalon Fragments. All three of them contain some heavy lore that isn't touched on elsewhere in the game plot, and the game never draws the player toward them.

I'll do my best not to spoil things in Eastbound--fortunately, Kahl has reasons to not share certain plot secrets, and his dialect obscures things about the rest!

Clara might just love Kahl. Is it possible to adopt a 210cm cyborg? Because she will.

[personal profile] kahl_175 2022-10-15 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww! Kahl says adopting anybody is possible, you just have to start calling them "brother" and then it's official. Doesn't matter who they are, brothers can be any size, species, or gender.

Like, canonically, he has "boy brothers" and "girl brothers", his words. My guess as a Warframe lore nerd is that "sister" implies somebody in charge for male Grineer coming out of the fairly matriarchal Empire, while female Grineer might equally apply "sister" to everybody. I have thought way too hard about this.

welp, that's gotta happen, if she knew that, she'd tell him it's official. Tiny woman who probably isn't even as tall as one of his legs is protective of a the big, tough cyborg - that's my rp jam right there, tbh

Go right ahead! I'll be a bit slow on tagging tomorrow due to some local autumn festivities, but Kahl's a sociable lad. He's definitely up for meeting more of the offworlders here!

I feel like River might really get along with Kahl. I won't lie, she can be rude and dismissive. Not to him, specifically. To people in general. Particularly when she's trying to get something done. So if he catches her on one of those days, he may not think much of her.

But also, she was essentially created and raised for a purpose, used, and she hates seeing others used.

Yeah, they'd definitely have some kinship there!

And with regards to rudeness, Kahl becomes friends with somebody who literally calls him a "vat rat" the first time she sees him. So everything up to and including really vicious racism isn't enough to put him off. However, he does straighten people out when they've been a jerk to him, it just might wait until he has enough time to think through what he wants to say.

So, things are open to however you'd like it to go!

That's a plus! Because both of mine can be on the more abrasive side at times. Sarah is admittedly probably most abrasive. But River is more prone to talking down to people because she's moving 3 or 4 steps ahead and doesn't always have the patience to wait for them to catch up. In both cases, it's mostly surface rudeness.

But I definitely think River will for sure like him!

Sarah may take a little longer to warm up.

I see! Kahl's smarter than he sounds, definitely got really solid improvisation and problem-solving skills within the stuff he understands, but he's got limited education and life experience outside of the army.

However, he knows that he looks and sounds like a brute, and he's used that to trick people before--they assume he's too dumb to lie or withhold information, and he's more than willing to use that to solve problems and get people the help they need.

So depending on the situation, he can be really quick-thinking, really sneaky, or really lost. Lots of room to work there!

I actually think she'll appreciate that quality about him! (And definitely will put him in position to use it to advantage once she's recognized it.)

But yeah, for sure, she could come across as one of those people, and I am cool with that creating some rocky ground at times or at first. But I promise it's not you, Kahl, she treats everyone that way sometimes.
