OOC Handwave/Check-in

Hey guys!

So this last month (and let's be honest for a bit before that) really hit me hard rp wise and I dropped the ball everywhere. Rather than continue to stare down the 47 tags in my inbox, I'm going to clean the slate.

This means that any previous threads with Lee Chang and Fox are gonna wrap where they are. If someone really needs to play something out, I will make an exception, but mostly I just want to be able to start fresh again.

That being said, I would like to do some handwaving to figure out the ends of threads / interactions that have happened in the meantime, so please feel free to let me know here if there's anything you would like to do that way.

I will say that anyone who wanted a "fuck i'm dead" broadcast tattoo from fox now has one - he's had enough time to do them by now.

Also before they set off, he returned Lee Chang's sword to him with thanks--he felt good about having a bit more distance between him and those rotten buggers back at the farmstead. He's not used to swords though, and he feels he should work on that.

YES Fox will fully take him as an apprentice, lemme run it by the mod to see if there's anything I have to keep in mind for that - it'll take a while to learn, but he'll probably start slick off with spells that he's already basically 'cooked' and just need to be 'set off' as it were - like talisman magic etc

Also Lee Chang would offer him swordfighting lessons

AW HELL YEAH. Slick's going to be a very focused learner, though there may be some concepts he has trouble wrapping his head around intuitively, so he'll have to learn some things by rote.

No worries at all! Hardly need to apologize. I had no agenda that I can remember, and as a bonus, Five has a very low social stamina so it's very likely he would just leave in the middle of a conversation anyway. I'm sure it was awkward.

welcome to breakdowns on various talismans and wards, fox, if you can sit down and work with him thank you (i'm happy having them do exchanges of information and brainstorming new ideas, wei wuxian has had a sad lack of that kind of brainstorming in his life tbh)

fox will listen VERY ATTENTIVELY and then demonstrate all the talisman magic he learned back home (from mingyu's family and other places) and will happily brainstorm forever and a day if it means he only has to think about magic and nothing else!!!

we can probably try to suss out what they might collectively be trying to learn to do wrt talismans and useful things--he would have liked the concept of tracking people that fox was dealing with when it comes to tattoos while hahaha nooot for it himself, for various reasons

yeah i think fox will be focusing on protection and detection - his world doesn't have demons or ghosts or undead so he will definitely be trying to figure out if he can apply any of wei ying's magic that way

the tracking tattoos he will get a little squirly about - he thinks they are a little necessary but he also very much likes his own privacy so depending on what wei ying wanted to do and why he will be more or less helpful

yeah that's all stuff wei wuxian can help deliver, since he's... well versed in all those things lmf, how is fox's replication when it comes to drawn images/runes? since talismans will be most of what he does

oh no he doesn't want to know about those so much as seeing if they can design talismans that activate for people

he's scarily good at replicating and remembering drawn things - especially if wei ying's talismans use oracle bone or seal script - he's already familiar with those from his world.

and yeah, they should definitely be able to do that!!

i think what we get is more seal script or a hybrid so going with that, fox should be set! also scarily good means wei wuxian would love him to do copying of local things too as they find them lmf

I think we've only had the siege thread but I'm super open to anything you might want to handwave, either Lily chatting with Fox about magic (she would be so curious as to how it works on his side of things), or maybe taking a few night watch shifts with either him or Lee Chang (he impressed her as very organized during the siege and she appreciates that in a person).

If Lily gave fox an inch he would take a mile but also probably make NO SENSE as he tried to explain his own stuff - he has a tendency to ramble an go on very particular weird tangents as well as being a little obsessive about the minutae of magic casting, but he would be fascinated by hers as his just does not work the same way

Lee Chang will absolutely take night shift watches with her (no one wants fox on night shift) - he is very pragmatic when it comes to defense organization and deeply appreciates her skills even if he really doesn't understand (or really want to understand) magic at all. he may ask her opinion on necromancy though, at some point...

She will take as much as he does when it comes to the question and answer game, and she'll be fervently taking notes the whole time, sounds like a wonderful trip to Nerdsville.

We stan Lee Chang and his stoic organizational skills so this sounds like a wonderful evening. There's not really any necromancy in her canon, but from what she's gleaned from the necromancers in their group it's not similar to the Dark Arts they have from where she comes from and so far it's proven to be helpful, rather than destructive. She would also have to ask his opinion since they're on the topic.

He has VERY STRONG opinions on the undead, mostly because cough he comes from a zombie apocalypse set in ancient korea so he is very much on the "we should destroy all of them" front, though he recognizes that things aren't quite the same here as back home...

Please she will absorb all of this information about his world and then some, her experience with the undead is limited to her time here, but according to the magic fish, the only thing that can be done for them is culling so they are definitely in agreement.
