HANDWAVERY: WHAT CAN OTHER CHARACTERS SPOT YOURS DOING ON THE DAILY? In Taravast, he'll be exploring the city to the best of his abilities, though he stays away from all that necromancy nonsense. He is a Good Cultivator, okay, demonic cultivation is Bad. He'll be familiarizing himself with sweets vendors so he can sneak pastries and candy to Xue Yang. He and Xue Yang aren't attached at the hip ALL the time, but it's pretty close
until it isn't.DOES ANYTHING STAND OUT GROTESQUELY/HILARIOUSLY/WTFISHLY ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER(S)? Are you all tired of me mentioning he's blind af? He wears a white blindfold because not only is he blind, but he has no eyeballs at all, so like...that's disturbing. A courtesy blindfold. Other than that, unless otherwise noted, he has his sword, Shuanghua, on his back and he might have his white horsetail whisk visible, depending on how many hands he has at the moment.
ICE BREAKER ROUNDS:
i. Your character is our last hope in the kitchens. Are we saved, are we doomed, is there excess spice, are you Xie Lian? He can cook! He's not so great on measuring out spices, though, so he tends to forgo that, resulting in blander foods. But it's edible, which is more than can be said for some other peoples' cooking.
ii. Which awkward reddit forum is your character likeliest to end up on? Choosing Beggars/I-don't-work-here-lady/Bridezillas/MaliciousCompliance/ProRevenge/something else?
WHAT IS REDDIT, I'M OLD.Okay, so I did a quick reddit glance so I had an actual answer for this AND THEN GOT DISTRACTED, but uhhhhh, probably r/MadeMeSmile. Assuming he could still see, of course.THREE TYPES OF CR YOUR WANT FOR YOUR CHARACTER (BE SPECIFIC), GO:
- Since he's going to not have a confidant soon, I would love for him to get closer to someone to work up to that point. The only problem is Xingchen has gotten burned twice now by people he's trusted with his honey nut feelios and will more than likely be more guarded afterward. But keep trying.
- Friends in general. He can probably count on one hand the number of people he'd consider friends or friend material here. But, again, see being burned up above.
- IDK drinking buddies??? for when he inevitably hits a self-destructive streak. He's probably a lightweight, though, so don't expect to be rowdy all night.
WHAT WILL YOUR CHARACTER NEED AN EXTRA HAND WITH IN TARAVAST?
Therapy. He needs therapy.

Okay so they actually never discussed that particular controversy, but the point of the podcast is to talk about other food ideas of a similar vein. Like if a poptart is a ravioli, is cereal soup, etc.
But yes! Bring me Zuko, I love Zuko, what a good cranky boy. And Xingchen has been living with two teenagers for the past couple years, so, like, why change things up, amirite.

Xie Lian please be his friend who doesn't hurt him ever. Xingchen thinks he's pretty cool. Maybe he's not, but he's got a cool sword. Let him tell you half jokes when he's feeling less like cliffing himself.
