Wrathion the bad dragon
That said, he's mostly in here to leak information and to gently manoeuvre the rebels around. If someone needs to avoid kidnap, Wrathion knows all the secret handshakes to convince the rebels he is on their side and also, so are you, if they would please let you go and not try to ransom you! He's willing to drag(on) you in as a recruit (or as a pretend-recruit, to get you out of the palace -- either is fine).
If you are outside the palace and at the merry rebel party, and feeling cold, feel free to hang out with him: dragons are warm, his blood is fire, etc etc. He will look faintly uneasy but try to keep an air of calm. He is willing to discuss how this is all, actually, feeling like it will end horribly.
Once the chaos breaks out he will be helping rescue Macaluso: he'll round up some rebels to help be a distraction, too! Wrathion was team Macaluso for a literal hot second before the boy got arrested and he feels slightly bad about how he was meant to make him fail anyway? Listen the guy seems.... naïve but well meaning and he's known people like that. He has a weakness but he's not talking about it.
Wrathion is decently sneaky, can do illusions, and can short range teleport! He can knock people out if necessary, but if it comes to it he can also rain down hell with magic. SOMEHOW, they will make this work!
