the hair's very important, he can approximately pay for it even
though it might be done in pocket change, snacks, practical tips on how to keep safe when everything's going to hell, and where to avoid if you don't like getting brained by one of the doxe's guards

On a more notes:
Slick's going to try to have a kit of supplies put together for the trip onward--the Merchant supplied everybody a lot of stuff last time, but he's not feeling particularly trusting towards that guy. He's going to be keeping an eye out for preserved food, rope/cord, wire, a small wood-chopping axe, a compass... and if anybody on the magical or alchemical end of things in Taravast has something portable for water purification, he'd definitely want to negotiate for that.
And one other question--Do the Doxe's guys in the streets wear any sort of head or face protection? Any practical qualities to their masks? Slick's been missing his helmet.

Re: prep packages — happy for Slick to accrue his supplies, as he wouldn't know what to expect, but as a heads up: one of the destination options will basically require voyage that severely strips characters down of inventory. I'd say you'll be down to one weapon or one portable thing. So this might be for naught.
That said, again, Slick wouldn't know to anticipate that, so doing the rummaging that comes natural for him is a-okay.
