Trouble at Sea

The boats will set John ill at ease; he won't like being crowded in with a group of strangers, and the explanations about warding away evil and keeping fires burning will seem crazy to him. That said, if his boat gets in trouble from the lights going out once, he'll be well-convinced not to let it happen again! Would anyone be game to play that out? I'd love to play with either a monster attack or an undead newcomer climbing in, if that interests anyone.

Allayar

John will make a capable hunter and could potentially lead a group; he's lived semi-wild before, so it won't be new to him. Foreign plants aren't necessarily his forte, beyond that he'd know not to eat something that he didn't recognise. Once they get to Allayar he'll be dismayed by the level of technology, but worried about the blood. If anyone wants a partner to explore the streets with, I'm down!

Hamsour

John tends towards some natural paranoia, so I think he's a prime candidate to get obsessed with the lighthouse and want to keep it for himself. After all, he doesn't know you people! He doesn't think anywhere is really safe, but he's safer if he holes up alone. I'd be up for him settling into an alliance with one or two others and trying to keep the lighthouse 'safe' from everyone else by keeping it for themselves, if anyone would want to play that out!

Exploration partner, you say? Lily's going to be poking around Allayar big time, I'd love for her to not go alone!

That sounds great! John will definitely want to get a lay of the land. Plus, maybe he can ask her about magic things, it's a definite gap in his knowledge!

That works! She's been diligently taking notes her entire time in game too, so if he wants a deep dive on some lore, Lily's the right person for the job.

Hunting partner, maybe? Dany has never hunted before, but she would be interested in learning. It also let's these two get to know each other, exploring the environment.

I'd be into that! He could show her what he knows, and he'd be glad to have someone to go with, anyway.

I think they're around the same age, so they might feel comfortable around each other?

John's around 17 - the show really fudges how much time has passed and when things actually happen, but by the end enough years have passed that he has to be. What's Dany's canon point?

She's from the books, A Dance with Dragons. So she's around 16, near 17. The icon here is a rough estimate of how she looks at present.

I'm only really familiar with the show, but that's like comparable to season 5 in terms of events, right? They'd be about the same age. John isn't all that great at relating to people his own age, but that's because they're ordinary teenagers, and Dany's not that any more than he is!

Uhhhh, that's kind of true. It's around s5, but they heavily deviated from the books and Dany is largely different from the show in terms of personality and journey. (This is a rant I could go on and on about.) She's idealistic, active, compassionate and very friendly.

And yes! Neither are normal. Both are thrust into leadership positions, have to deal with being hunted and targeted. Lots of trauma. I think it's fair to say they have a lot to bond over.

..........Wangji is 100% a vegetarian who needs to provide meat for the questionably better half of his not-marriage, please let him squeamishly mooch off John's kills. He just needs to learn.

Deal, he will absolutely teach him how to be a hunter-gatherer. Just don't ask him to cook it, the Connors are not skilled in that department.
