Goodbye & farewell to Taravast, as the party heads into the mysterious, if sadly downtrodden Ellethia. Our latest log has gone up to cover 3-17 January, and you can make your individual plotting comments or ask questions here!

Kaneki thanks Enam and his assistance for bringing snacks along, they are important.

TROUBLE AT SEA
So kaneki is highly paranoid and any new undead arrival at the boat will be promptly thrown back into the water. Anyone who refuses to do this will hear Kaneki clearly threaten to eat the undead instead. Those are the only two choices he gives because Kaneki has zero chill ): Anyway, if someone wants to argue with him, I'm all for this!

Kaneki will help anyone whose boat sunk too, despite everything he is actually helpful and cares about the rest of the group. Undead may not get much of his love, but the living do.


ELLETHIA-ALLAYAR
Super cool with fighting some mermaids, and sadly that wonderful gear they must wear will get in the way. Which means if Kaneki fights, kaneki will be getting exposed to air and will have his skin rot. Naturally I'm all for it because torturing my characters is super cool!

(lucky for us, the wounds heal and ken has fast healing too)

OHH BOY TIME TO COMPETE FOR THAT LIGHTHOUSE.
Being the paranoid man (kid???) kaneki is, naturally obsessive behavior over the lighthouse will come up. To be fair, Kaneki always neglects himself so that behavior won't be new, but I'm totally up for intense confront over who the lighthouse truly wants (it's kaneki, the lighthouse wants kaneki for sure). Anyway, I'm also up to have someone to get Ken to snap out of it, too.

ONE FOR THE ROAD ─ TROUBLE AT SEA
While on the ship, Sansa Alayne will probably spend a lot of time checking in on current CR and figuring out what their thoughts are on this bizarre detour. Despite being forced to bring bare essentials, she'll still have smuggled a few lemon cakes aboard, along with a satchel carrying a couple bottles of potions that Hermione helped her brew before the revolution. She probably won't sleep well and will be exhausted by the time they move to the smaller boats. Keep her company while she rocks her insomnia!

Due to fire being so important, she'll probably try to join Zuko on one of the boats, as well as trying to stick close to Jon at the same time, but I am game for Things Going Wrong (in case their players have other plans) and she can end up on a boat with 1-2 others! If someone falls overboard, she's...not going in after them, but she'll try to help pull them back on if they're close enough?

Since she goes by an alias, sharing her name with an undead stowaway won't do anything to her, and she can try to talk others into pushing the undead overboard or move them to a separate boat... Especially if there is a weight limit for the boats and they're already at capacity. She'll feel incredibly guilty, but she doesn't exactly want the boat to sink, tyvm!

AHOY, LAND
She is going to HATE the suits with a deep and fiery passion, from the appearance to how awkward it will be to move in them at first. Being young and vain, she might take a little longer than she should to bathe at one point and then immediately regret it! Lesson learned, most painfully. Have others feel free to take her experience as a big Warning Sign. From this point on, she'll already begin to eat less and less often.

After recovering from the rash/gashes, Alayne will reluctantly help find samples of Widow's Yearning, mostly because she'll be interested in if it can be used in future potioncraft. She, however, will not be willing to test it on herself, and will no doubt ask others who are versed in potions for their opinion before doing anything extra with it. That is...after someone wakes her up from a snooze in a field.

I'm willing for her to become a hallucination victim if anyone is feeling mischievous, although I don't know how that could happen. I welcome any ideas!

ELLETHIA-ALLAYAR
Alayne might get lured by a mermaid who mimics someone in the party, so long as Alayne already knows them. Someone stop her from becoming a snack! After that, she'll probably start being too paranoid to really go anywhere unless in the company of others.

I don't really have any major ideas for this area, so please come at me!

ELLETHIA-HAMSOUR
Alayne will gradually become more and more paranoid and possessive of the lighthouse, and may attempt to block others from progressing through any means she can. This can involve drugging people with a sleeping potion or using the Widow's Yearning as a hallucinogen if it's been ICly discovered to do such (in both cases, only with the player's consent!). If there are ways to sabatoge the path ahead for other characters without openly incriminating herself, then she'll do it.

It probably won't last long, as due to the extended lack of sleep and then lack of eating, she'll grow too weak to carry on by the end and might need help in finishing the journey.

Everything above is just loose ideas, and I am more than eager to alter or add plans as they're presented! The only constant is: Alayne is going to hate this journey, and will be very sullen for most of it. There may be times where she overcomes this in order to try to raise hopes for others, but that depends on who she's with. For the home stretch she'll be acting like a sneaky villain.

At Sea

Don't have much in way of plans for him here, but he can offer to help re-light any candles that go out with a snap of fire magic, as well as try to ward off encroaching undead with a circle of holy light to nearby boats at times. Happy to have him paired up with whomever in a boat for interesting conversations/new cr and such!


On Land

Past the initial horror and distress, Eleven is going get a bit misty-eyed over the fact that there is a cycle here, working visibly- if far too quickly. He's likely to stop and pray a lot, wander off to touch a lot of overgrown foliage at length, and generally be fascinated by the whole phenomenon. If anyone plans to try at test the effects of the air for themselves, he'd love to watch with the promise to heal the injury if it begins to spread too far. Eventually, he's likely to do this himself to get a sense of how it feels at some point ._.


Lighthouse

He's going to heed the siren call of the lighthouse, awakening within him a dark impulse of certainty that if he gets there first, he can bring Light back to the world with it- that no one else can- and fight hard to reach it. Conflict! And then feel really stupid later, even as echoes of that certainty linger and spread to other considerations..

ONE FOR THE ROAD - TROUBLE AT SEA
The boat trip is going to be stressful for Dany, between checking on her current CR, keeping an eye on Drogon and helping out where she can. It's not her first harsh travel, so she won't be too grump. Boats also make her happy, but this is no ocean, so there are grumblings. She's not going to be carrying much beyond the standard fare.

She'll work to keep the candles going. I'm debating about having her fall overboard. I like the idea of the unrelenting cold. She could probably try and scramble back up, with some help that doesn't involve others jumping in. After that, she'll be pretty miserable.

She's not really going to share her name with the undead and she'll probably also to try to talk others out of it. She remembers this sort of thing from the House of the Undying. All undead things go off the boats.


AHOY, LAND
Oh gods do these suits do nothing for Dany aesthetically. She hates them. It'll be harder for her to move to control Drogon and handle a whip, so there might be some moments where she accidentally smacks herself or someone else or runs into someone.

She's mostly going to be exploring, though she'll help with basic tasks like replenishing the water supplies or cooking (expect a lot of charred meat). She might want an exploring buddy, so if someone wants to get into trouble, I'm open.


Drogon can't be on the ground for too long, so he's going off to make a lair in the ruins. Say goodbye to the dragon for awhile, he's hunting/roaming/exploring like the wild boi he is.


ELLETHIA-ALLAYAR
Dany won't have as much trouble with mermaids, as Drogon is going to be eating a few of them (you'll thank him later). But she can help if anyone else needs some talking to or a dragon to come rescue them.

I'm open to whatever here.


ELLETHIA-HAMSOUR
Dany wants to get to the lighthouse and will probably become more paranoid and possessive of it. At the same time, she'll understand that she's acting irrationally and probably have a mental breakdown where she worries she's becoming her father. So she'll be a big ball of stress, wanting to fight that paranoia and madness, but at the same time having trouble stopping the effect.

This will be a big psychological thing that could end up with her talking about her father a little and facing who and what he was more, which Book Dany has yet to fully do. Getting into conflict with others will also help fuel that crisis.

This is the one I want to lean into more heavily. So I'd genuinely love volunteers.

Candles going out is not going to be an issue on his boat, he’s also able to throw fire, so if someone’s brazier in a nearby boat goes out he can relight it from a distance as needed.

He’s also dumb and 100% likely to dive in after someone who goes overboard. I’m here for all the travel antics.

While the group is on land Zuko will be keeping watch during the night if anyone else wants to get in on that, I'll be putting up a network post for him calling for volunteers within the next few days

As a firebender, he’s here to make life hard for some mermaids, if anyone wants to run afoul of them and get helped, or maybe even flat out fight back/pick a fight, he’s here for it. He’ll also be doing some exploring, scaling what buildings he can to get the lay of the land - he likes to devote some time to being Batman wherever he goes and people who enjoy a good skulk are always welcome.

There will be some more Batmanning, although there’s a lot less to climb here, if anyone wants to live dangerously with him I’m about it. Zuko is the sort who might quietly struggle with the obsession everyone will be enjoying before it outwardly manifests.

I’m open to throwing him into harm’s way because of it, and if anyone wants to get into something that turns ugly I’d be cool with having him snap and get possessive, or have to try and defend himself against another player who has.

I want a boat drama with a ‘newcomer’ so badly. She’s soft-hearted enough that this has huge potential to become an issue and I am super up for fellow tender-hearted types to get in (even more) undead trouble with and maybe go all the way to shore, or someone with some sense to shut it down, or both - boats can sit up to three, after all, let’s make a mess.


ahoy land

Lily is going to be investigating the whole animals are born and die in a day before coming back to life thing if anyone wants to get roped into looking to/discussing/staring at it with her. Also, she’ll be foraging quite a bit if anyone else has an interest in the flora.

And as a blanket offer for the rest of this journey, she’s pretty speedy with a Mending Charm and will gladly come to the aid of anyone whose suit has gotten ripped.

It’s safe to assume Lily is going to be snooping around all day every day. If anyone wants to investigate some of those pamphlets (Who Watches Through Your Mirrors, conscription, Taravast, say what now?), any of the accessible ruins, or the botanical garden, the more the merrier! I’m also very keen to have her fight off some mermaids!

sweating hard about the fact that APPARENTLY THIS WHOLE TRIP IS ANDUIN'S FAULT... this is what happens when you try to get a pacifist to commit a murder okay that's all I am gonna say.

TROUBLE AT SEA:
Anduin is a Priest of the Light though apparently this will do nothing to ward away the Evil Mermaids. It WILL however allow him to do things like shield himself/people nearby from danger, yank anyone who might have wound up in the water to safety, and heal anyone who needs it.

He is unfortunately a very kind and caring person so he would 100% be roped into aiding any undead visitors that come onto the boat, and he would possibly even voluntarily introduce himself to a frightened and helpless stranger because that's Just Who He Is. (Someone, please stop him...)

ELLETHIA-ALLAYAR:
ALRIGHT SO Anduin can't help but be more than a little bit nosy. Why did the Merchant insist they come here? He's gonna want to have a bit of an exploration about the place, looking through the debris of the city feeling generally Uncomfortable about all of this.

He is also free for more healing or rescuing, if anyone needs help with the mermaids while he is out and about in the city!

ELLETHIA-HAMSOUR:
This whole lighthouse thing is gonna make Anduing even MORE Uncomfortable, I think largely because he will be able to feel the pull of it and he's very cognizant of Weird Mind Influences. He'll be able to feel some level of obsession and see it in others and that is 100% no good in his books.

He WILL be able to help people DISPELL the pull of the lighthouse -- for 30 minutes :') BUT some time is better than no time at all, right? RIGHT???

TROUBLE AT SEA

Having to keep a candle lit sucks, but Wrathion can conjure fire to relight his easy enough. If anyone is particularly anxious about the trip they're welcome to have seen him use it to light something before they get on the boats and stick with him for the relight-candle-safety of it. He'll be wary of the whole thing but not exactly frightened due to his ease of keeping things lit -- so he's a good option if you need an easy passage!

AHOY, LAND

Wrathion is not going to be hugely convinced by this business of the decay being a problem for everyone. Therefore, I am game for one person to see it hit him before he covers up -- because it won't impact him the way it does regular fleshy people. It will, essentially break through his visage a little before it gets covered by the visage hiding it, meaning you get to see weird black fiery scaly effect underneath his regular-human-looking-skin. He will most likely try to tough it out until it fades once he's covered up.

After this experience he will confidently tell anyone else that they absolutely do indeed need to keep the awful outfit on, as unfashionable as it is.

ELLETHIA-ALLAYAR & ELLETHIA-HAMSOUR

I think I'm largely going to play support for these -- if you want someone to explore with or to pull you away from a cliff edge/mermaid/something else Wrathion is available. He's fairly resistant to mental nonsense given a lengthy history of them, but not immune so it will get him eventually, just more slowly. I'm sort of trying not to completely destroy him during this because I am giving him a five minute break before I do so, in RP terms.

Also down for general conversations about how this all seems like it sucks, as they try to puzzle out the endgame of everything going on!

So, one characteristic of Xie Lian having his curse mark is that he has the shittiest luck ever. Literally think if there is a pebble on the road he will stumble on it. It seems like a good time for that to come into play.

Another interesting thing is that he literally cannot die, so that will be interesting.

TROUBLE AT SEA

Open to Xie Lian fumbling/losing his candle, if someone wants to be in the boat with him. OTOH, he can definitely punch mermaids/zombies, so....

ELLETHIA

So, because of his shit luck, Xie Lian's suit will get ripped, and because he literally doesn't feel pain or rather, he's become so used to it it barely registers, he won't realize until it's too late. So if someone wants to alert Xie Lian that his arm or leg is rotting, that would be really nice. And also witness the slight trauma reaction and/or seeming indifference to the situation.

THE SILENCE GAME

Again, shit luck means he's probably going to stumble on something and alert mermaids at least once. He probably won't need much rescue but people can come help anyway.

ELLETHIA-HAMSOUR/LIGHTHOUSE
Xie Lian won't feel the compulsion so if you need someone to tie your character up/holds them back, he's your... god? I guess?

Moran can actually fight and keep a cool head, so if you want someone with a clear head on your boat, he's game.... but he can only make fire the normal human way so do try to keep your candle alight. And he can create riddles for undead zombies.

Moran will help gather herbs and also make a lot of notes on the time paradox in this place. he wants to learn all the things; Also he hates the suits and particularly the fact that they're red and he will b vocal about it. Prince gotta prince sometimes.

Trouble at Sea

The boats will set John ill at ease; he won't like being crowded in with a group of strangers, and the explanations about warding away evil and keeping fires burning will seem crazy to him. That said, if his boat gets in trouble from the lights going out once, he'll be well-convinced not to let it happen again! Would anyone be game to play that out? I'd love to play with either a monster attack or an undead newcomer climbing in, if that interests anyone.

Allayar

John will make a capable hunter and could potentially lead a group; he's lived semi-wild before, so it won't be new to him. Foreign plants aren't necessarily his forte, beyond that he'd know not to eat something that he didn't recognise. Once they get to Allayar he'll be dismayed by the level of technology, but worried about the blood. If anyone wants a partner to explore the streets with, I'm down!

Hamsour

John tends towards some natural paranoia, so I think he's a prime candidate to get obsessed with the lighthouse and want to keep it for himself. After all, he doesn't know you people! He doesn't think anywhere is really safe, but he's safer if he holes up alone. I'd be up for him settling into an alliance with one or two others and trying to keep the lighthouse 'safe' from everyone else by keeping it for themselves, if anyone would want to play that out!

Trouble at sea

Xunxian will keep the candle burning since he has something to light lamps/candles with out of habit.
He will likely be able to charm 'visitors' off the boats once it's found out they create explosions when they get to land.

Allayar

Xunxian will probably be exploring (usually the high grounds, tyvm, he's made a promise) and try to get the blossoms, if anyone wants an animal whisperer for such shenanigans.

Hamsour

He will be somewhat drawn to the lighthouse but it'll work slower than for most, and definitely slower than for Moran. Whose every wish is Xunxian's command, more or less, and, well, long story short, Xunxian will end up taking a dunk in the sea. The mermaids will be drawn to bigger prey (which will also get away) and in theory nobody will get eaten.

I'm open to shenanigans in all stages. And yes, he'll wear the protective gear, though he'll absolutely not be pleased about the helmet.

... y'all are getting a pretty seasick boy. At least that means he won't introduce himself to any unwanted strangers? He'll be able to keep himself alert enough to help light up the candle if it should get extinguished, and fish people out of the water.

If anyone needs a rescue from mermaids from a 19yo flying on his sword, just let me know. And yes, he'll be exploring and likely trying to get some of the blossoms for the group's own stores, since there has already been discussion on relying on drugs provided by the locals.

Hamsour

He's meditating / cultivating probably enough to not be affected by the obsession for the lighthouse but he'll also not stray from the group for the sake of keeping people safe, though not close enough to provoke those who are possessive.

Rufus hates the sea, he prefers keeping his feet on solid ground but he'll help out when needed. He uses a fake name of one of his brothers out of caution so he's safe from that at least.

ELLETHIA-ALLAYAR/HAMSOUR

Let's fight some mermaids. Rufus has his shotgun and some ammo. He'll use it sparingly but he can still use it when absolutely needed. He's all for getting himself in danger and doing something stupid/rash just for the excitement so he's prone to be a bit reckless.

He'll also be a bit reckless about the suit and not wanting to keep it on so he'll have some side effects there as well.

The Lighthouse

Rufus's natural wariness is going to conflict with his curiosity/not wanting to be told not to go somewhere he really wants to go.

TROUBLE AT SEA
Five will, naturally, insist that the two other people on his boat are his two siblings. If anyone tries to get in a boat with said siblings, he's going to be rude about it. (He's also going to have issues with Diego's wolves, but Lily has his back on shrinking them down, right??)

That said, he's not so horrible that he won't use his teleporting to fish out anyone who feels like swimming with the mermaids before someone less capable (or stupidly heroic) does it.

And zero surprises he's going to be openly antagonistic to the stowaway. Does not trust them one bit and he'll try to get information before voting them out and generally offer violence if he needs to sway anyone.

AHOY, LAND
So, great! Decades of survival in the apocalypse, he's got this covered, Five didn't even have a suit back then. He'll be gathering what they need for their journey, keeping an eye on those he needs to, and actively studying the life/death stuff and generally be annoyed that time isn't working the way it should. Will waste some time trying to make the coffee he had leftover from Taravast so he can continue to avoid sleep.

ELLETHIA-ALLAYAR
He'll be interested in reading material and theorizing what happened. Especially interested in anything he can use for leverage if he brings it up with the Merchant later.

ELLETHIA-HAMSOUR
re: the lighthouse. Any effects won't be as noticeable in Five, since neglecting food, safety and sleep is kind of his default way of being. He's very confident he can get there before any of you and figure out what this is all about.

These are just preliminary thoughts so not too detailed. Five is keeping it together, doing that thing where he's trying real hard to feel like he's got everything under control again. (Remaining siblings, where are you... he'd really like to get back to searching for them.) Feel free to come at me with anything you'd like to explore!

trouble at sea

Yennefer's arrival starts as a rescue after Enam finds her in the water. She'll be all healed up thanks to some calcar (that Enam will take and toss away) and pretty confused once things are explained. After that, she's going to be pretty grumpy and try to portal her way out. Only she'll end up back in Taravast and then drop into the middle of one of the passenger boats. After getting violently ill for a couple of hours, she'll tuck herself into a corner and brood for a bit.

ahoy, land

What a way to arrive. The suits are going to get a massive stink-eye. She'll challenge the system by wearing it for a minute and then take off the helmet for 15, rinse and repeat. She'll discover the same calcar stone that healed her while she was in the water runs bountiful on land and will encourage people to take some for the second leg of the journey. Otherwise, she'll be exploring, trying to feel for intersections and/or a way out. Which there's none.

Yen will be support for anyone needing to be held back or who wants a buddy to explore with. Or down for anyone just wanting to meet the new face!

TROUBLE AT SEA
Marcos will be hopping in a boat with Lorna probably (??) so there's room for more. He has fun heat/light powers, so guess who has an extra easy time keeping your candles lit. He could possibly do it for a nearby boat if they are in dire need and close enough. Also handy for keeping his boatmates nice and warm. Your own little portable heater/flashlight.

He's going to be too friendly to the castaway, giving his name easily to try to get them to calm down. He wants to help... That will likely be a situation, but nobody warned him.

AHOY, LAND
He's going to be going around, seeing who needs a hand, and trying to focus on tasks so everything else doesn't freak him out. He'd be very down for helping Enam find his plant to thank him for guiding them and maybe learn a little more about him/this place.

THE SILENCE GAME
While wearing the suit, he can't really use his laser hands. (Unless he takes the gloves off.) So he's slightly hindered when it comes to fighting. I'm very for something happening and him using he uses his powers to rip the suit accidentally while trying to help someone/if the mermaids attack. YOU KNOW whatever comes up, these things happen.

/vague hand gestures!! I'm here for anything. If you need a flashlight, warmth, or someone sane to talk to come to Marcos. Events in Taravast really got to his head, so he wants to force himself to look forward and find purpose. He's doing his best.

He can also call up one of his personas if mermaids start trying to make a move on the boat or if he needs to light candles in a hurry (though using a persona for that seems a bit like overkill...).

He'll be immediately suspicious of anyone who randomly turns up on his boat. He could be convinced to help throw them back overboard, though he won't rush to that himself.

Akira won't so much mind the red gear once he knows the point of it - he's pretty used to school uniforms and all that, after all. He has some basic mending skills, if anyone needs help sewing theirs up, and can use persona skills to heal if anyone's really desperate.

I'd like him to have a reason to call up a persona at some point so he can switch to Anubis and pick up on the lack of death in the area, so if anyone needs him to go mermaid hunting, hit him up.

Otherwise, he'll be down for exploring and being amused at the pamphlet titles. Seriously, what? This stuff seriously sounds like it belongs in a palace.

-- moiraine is going to be able to keep (or relight) fires for her boat/nearby boats through her weaves if need be.

trouble at sea
NO idea which boat she's travelling on (here is your chance! sign up to be a boat buddy!) but she's handy with mending spells, has a genuinely bottomless bag and can in a pinch recite hogwarts: a history to keep morale up or something. tales of beedle the bard as well, because she's had to read it for horcrux hunting reasons.

i don't have more planned but i'm flexible. need a rescue? someone to light your candle? someone to shoo mermaids away? let me know.

here to waddle like a duck in that suit, collect herbs (for herself) whenever and wherever possible, and explore the ruins of the city for more insight into whatever could've happened there. cautiously.

will partner up with someone to get the sleepy plant, in a pinch, but let's discuss this part if it's of interest because she'd want to go prepared and not end up napping in a field of flowers. forever.

TROUBLE AT SEA

Wen Qing hates traveling by water and while a large ship is easier to deal with, small boats are terrible. She is going to be wretchedly ill and with no access to her usual herbal medicines, she'll have to endure every moment of it. Her candle will definitely go out, sorry to anyone traveling with her, and chances are high she'll end up in the water. Who wants to rescue a cranky doctor who obviously can't be sick because she's the one who should be taking care of other people?


ELLETHIA-ALLAYAR

She'll be hunting for Widow's Yearning and possibly anything else she can find that looks safe for potions, tonics, salves, herbal teas, etc. (She'll be looking for anything that might possibly help with seasickness, especially.) The plants will likely lull her to sleep, so someone is going to have to wake her from that. And since Wen Qing would be reluctant to give someone a potion she didn't know the effects for, she'd test it out on herself, so it's lovely hallucination time.

Otherwise, she's available for patching up wounds from exposure (until they realize they heal quickly) and also for patching torn suits (she's not a terrible seamstress, just not great at it).


ELLETHIA-HAMSOUR

She has a task and that task is to get to the lighthouse and Wen Qing is going to get to the lighthouse. Nothing, short of falling off a cliff, is going to stop her (and that only for so long). Otherwise, I don't have much planned here— she'll start by continuing to look for plants and generally helping around.
