Hi, everyone! Two parts to today’s party:

JUNE JAZZ

Check out our latest plot roll & NPC thread options for June, for which you’ll receive full details on Wednesday, 22 June. You can sign up your characters for the quest of your choice until 18:00 GMT on 21 June.

■ We’ll need at least two characters signed up for a roll to carry it out. Quests that receive more than five sign-ups may need us to RNG a character who gets final call on any decision-making within the quest.

■ Try to be available to play things out with your quest-mates between 22 June – 5 July.

■ If you’re looking short on time in that period, it might be easier to offer support to characters who are leading a plot roll, without signing up.

■ Please share the information you get with the group at large through network posts.

As a heads-up for folks who’ve never done one of these — you may get offered follow-up quests, items or plot development because you helped out with a plot roll. You can always opt out of that.

CHARACTER & CANON: Jon Snow, Game of Thrones

THEIR ONE-SENTENCE ELEVATOR PITCH: Medieval hero king, but with more psychology; can’t seem to get away from undead lords and the messes they make. Jon is a kind but introverted guy in his mid-twenties who is carrying a lot of trauma, and is also very good at killing when he feels he has to (the bar for that is much lower where he comes from than in a lot of places, but he’s solidly on the side of good). May be a demonstration of the concept that being a prophesied hero would actually kind of suck.
HOW THEY END A TERRIBLE DATE: It’s either gentle polite regret, nice meeting you etc, or it’s murder. Depends on the date and why it was terrible. Regardless of the scenario, he ends the night drinking alone.
THE (SPITEFUL?) THOUGHT THAT GETS THEM THROUGH THE DAY: Jon isn’t typically spiteful except to people who have hurt his family. His motivating thought is that hopefully, things will be better someday, and he’ll be able to rest.

WHAT’S THE EASIEST WAY TO…
...IRRITATE THEM: Be transparently manipulative and/or try to get a rise out of him by mocking his bastardy; talk down to him; insult or threaten a Stark.
...EARN THEIR AFFECTION: Be a good person; be generally helpful/altruistic; be amusing. Some of his favorite people are genial jackass types as long as they’re also solid, loyal friends.
...SHOCK THEM: Nothing shocks him anymore, but he’s dismayed by man’s inhumanity to man (esp if it involves something like mass murder or long-term torture), and not really used to naked ladies (who would probably make him feel more awkward than shocked).

WHAT SHIP DO THEY MOSTLY HANG OUT ON? The Queen Zanrya!

WHAT ARE THEY UP TO?

- Guard duty.
- Fishing. He’s good at it! Maybe he’s helping other people cover for their badness.
- Shoving undead men back into the water.
- Being mad about the hammocks.
- Doing whatever is asked of him, as long as it’s dangerous. Hey, yeah, sure, he’ll climb up there.
- Somehow hasn’t gotten tossed in the brig. Yet. He’s not fond of pirates, but these are the group’s hosts, so he’s pretty polite.
- Really misses his pet direwolf.
- Has a cool sword; has recently also been given a cool bow!
- Still kind of traumatized by that whole “mirror” thing back in the lighthouse.
- He and Dany are involved as of late in the last arc, although they probably should not be, and they think they’re real subtle about it. They’re not. Lots of fond looks and impassioned glances around the ship. Make fun of them or make barf gestures. Hit on her and feel the death glare from him. (Hit on him and feel his discomfort and her death glare? IDK, talk to her player.) Etc. He is literally only hanging around the Zanrya because she is, but they aren’t getting much/any time alone.
- He is sitting on some major info about the Beastmaster. Expect a post about that soon.

CR/SCENARIOS YOU WANT:

I don’t have a lot of specifics! Most of his CR in this game has come from plot roll teams or canon stuff. I would really like him to get to know other characters more. He doesn’t have a lot of deep personal CR, for various reasons, and I’d like to change that: he needs friends he’s not related to or dating.

He’s a good person to ask for help with something, because he’s likely to do it if he can.

- You can’t stretch out straight the way you would when you’re sleeping on the ground with your cloak as a blanket!
- Most of his past sea travel is in a leadership capacity, with cabins. Are we barbarians? (These aren’t his men; he’d totally stan the hammocks if he was the ship’s captain.)
- The vast majority of his sea travel historically ends poorly for him. See: Hardhome.
- Not at all conducive to his nascent love life. (The real reason.)
- His player thought it would be funny. (The realest reason.)

The real question is, why isn’t everyone? 🤨
(idk probably because they provide a more stable sleeping experience on a ship than bunks do.)

ok but listen................ how do we make magic / a thread happen......... idk if you're planning a plot roll, but if not, I might see about throwing Wangji at Jon as a result of his hurrrr

we can likely try springboarding some stuff off whatever his beastmaster post will be, since this resident necromancer bard is always here to get Better Intel and handle things about it

I just need some kind of drunken session where they bond over how much their families mean to them, if that could ever happen... this would be their common thread. But also if he ever touches on the lighthouse thing again, Five is still curious what went on there exactly. Because mirrors are a Thing with him (he still has part of one stuck inside him) so you know. This is a relevant subject.

Generally Five wants to know what he knows, so he'll probably corner him at some point on this ride.

Still can't believe they thought he was his father. Why does that work every time...

so I guess my question is what did Xie Lian do to deserve mermaid sushi but alos yes please, he'll take it.
