ARC VI: THE SUNKEN
Happy Friday! Curtains are drawing on the Dream a little dream of her... travel arc, with the conclusion one cut away — warning for spoilers, if you're still threading out the mysteryIT WAS ALL A DREAM
Seeing her spouse mired in conflict, Prassenze emerges from where she has been changing appearance in the passenger crowd. A blank slate more than a person, she confesses she is also living dream, forged as a companion to Firo. As the party suspected, she has been using a dream thief to recreate herself on each wedding day and better suit beloved Firo and her companions. Sadly, Prassenze and the dream thief ran out of dream tokens to power their efforts, and Prassenze chose to hide away. Hugo — Natasha has learned, of the Merchant's homeland Ellethia — bashfully admits he is the dream thief, who created the perfect hero (Firo), her stalwart sister (Lita) and the blushing bride (Prassenze).
While the Conductor should remove living dreams from the train, Hugo patiently reminds him of the many years when he and his team allowed dream thieves to continue their work undeterred on the Sandman, for a price. To protect the train's reputation, the Conductor calls the incident closed. The group retires to their compartments — Firo and Prassenze agreeing to talk, Lita a little shattered, and Hugo... telling the Merchant's party that, if he had known what trouble they would cause, he would not have procured their tickets.
Betting results: 40,000 coins to Wei Wuxian and Dean each, 20,000 to Beitang Moran and Lan Sizhui each, 30,000 to Five.
We officially enter Arc VI on 15 May, when the group arrives in sunken village Yancai during a first log event — which doubles as a test drive meme.
- ■ Yancai location details are now live!
■ Courtesy of the Merchant, characters are assigned false identities/occupations and dwellings while in Yancai. Unrelated to the Merchant, they might be haunted. CTRL+F your character's name to learn their fate. The haunting & atonement are entirely optional — feel free to ignore or tweak.
■ A new NPC inbox will follow shortly.
■ Characters are coming into Arc VI with varying levels of false memories of being native to Yancai. These false memories are temporary and will dispel within days of arrival. During this period, characters can still sense they have a connection with their CR (as deeply or shallowly as you want), even if they have a diffuse sense of how it was formed. Ex: character A might know they love B, even if they don't recall B is their spouse of 50 years. They would (and should) be startled by this discrepancy in their memories.
■ the first Arc VI log will cover: a few days of acclimating to the village (and fully recovering character memories, where applicable), getting optionally haunted, exploring the lakes and and searching sunken territories for clues about the time-warping decay.

CLARA OSWALD
WHO IS YOUR CHARACTER IN YANCAI? GOSSIP GIRL XOXO she loves it, she's thriving
MEMORY STATUS: Clara knows who she is and she made the choice to stay and help. She is THE gossip. Need to know something? Ask her. Want to know something? She'll find out. She has secrets and who knows where she puts them all.
She's roomed with Caitlyn Kiramman, Bucky Barnes, Adrienne Peters, Charles Xavier in a beautiful villa.
GENERAL PLANS:
- She knows too much, maybe in need of protecting
- villa fun times with friends?
- Once she has her memories she's going to be insistent on finding everyone she knows.
- watch Clara get haunted by her mom's voice and feel like a failure!
- Looking for love in all the wrong places...but for real who wants to make out with her? It's how she's gonna deal with Things.
- the best gossip is at the harbor where everyone comes and goes, obvi, so catch her there sometimes.
- Let's keep the theme of Clara almost drowning going, who wants to explore the palace?
- Teacher at heart: she'll be popping around the school and thriving on books for a bit.

I love the idea of Clara filling him in while Wrathion tries to hook her up. Plus, once memories are all sorted out, she'll want to tell him Anduin basically saved her life back in Alem before he left. ...when she also almost drowned.
Clara and water have been such a bad combo lmao. In any case, I'm even up for double dipping, if we're both putting up a top level! I really should've pinged you for something in the last Arc. In any case, I'm def top leveling, so I'll make sure I get a starter up for us if you have a particular idea you were keen on :3

... Also Clara idk why you'd think he'd need to know anything about his Good Friend Anduin, Who Has Left, Which Does Not Bother Him At All He's Feeling Fine?

but now I'm not trusting my memory so I'm not positive Wrathion was ever name-dropped in their gossip session, ahaha.

CLAIRE FRASER
WHO IS YOUR CHARACTER IN YANCAI? Midwife, which is really not unlike her previous life. She loves bringing new life into the world, even this one. Her roommates are Jimmy McGill, Tess Servopoulos, Pietro Maximoff, Licyn Mansbane! Living in a brothel because it's hilarious and ironic.
MEMORY STATUS: Claire believes she's a native and a widow with dead kids. What a relief it will be when she remembers it's only one dead kid!
GENERAL PLANS:
- babies are poppin out so she's gonna be busy with and without her real memories. anyone wanna be horrified into never having children? Does someone want to assist? Watch her force a breech baby into position, but she'll need help.
- She's getting haunted by her own dead kid that she lost while dying herself, so let's have fun with that. Faith will ask if Claire can take her home (no), Bree asks if Claire can put her first instead of her career (yes), Fergus will ask her to stay and keep him safe in his time so his hand doesn't get chopped off (sorry, no).
-
- She'll be coping in the woods by foraging stuff. Not helpless, she could probably take down a small animal, but perhaps we could tag team a large animal for dinner.
- She has a skull she needs to bury once she has her memories again. Anyone wanna help?
- She can fish if anyone needs to learn!
- Claire loves an apothecary so she'll be replenishing stores often. Do you need a poultice or other herbal remedy? She's got you.
- Sometimes in the tavern drinking but she never gets drunk b/c she can't afford to be sloppy!
- More often in a teahouse most likely.

He also vibes with grief, so you know... here to run into her in any state, looking like a child and questioning whatever she's doing. What's that skull about??
no subject
like I keep sayingso I'm down with both 100% if you are!Claire was lost in some backwoods in 1760 something before she arrived and found a skull in the woods. Then she got haunted by a ghost (lol I swear I'm not exaggerating literally a ghost) and figured out the skull had silver fillings which weren't invented until the late 18th century. She stashed it in her satchel which she had with her when she arrived. So she just like...has a skull.
There's the whole time traveling thing to explore too b/c I would love Five's reaction to 'I touched a rock that sounded like a bee-hive and got yeeted 200 years into the past.'

I'm definitely going to put up a TL for him in the next log, so if there's anything at all that speaks to Clara too very happy to be greedy and go off on tangents. He's feeling better since the train, so obviously he needs to make up for some overdue harassing. SO far behind on his notes.
