Hi everyone! Welcome to Eastbound, where nothing goes as planned, and the caravan-chasing bear is taking its sweet time making a cameo.

OPEN (FOR BUSINESS?)

Applications nevertheless remain open until 23:59 GMT, 2 April (Friday) for any further newcomers. They can join in on the fun at any point in time!

Please doublecheck your character is on the TAKEN LIST, when you have a second! You are welcome to consider canon any samples you wrote in the Sa-Hareth setting as part of your application. Note: transfer ongoing application sample threads to the Eastbound communities if you want any future tags to them to count towards activity check requirements.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FINE SELF: I'm French and I work in a training center that trains funeral home workers, which is something I never imagined myself doing even 2 years ago. I used to be an Business English teacher before ye olde covid times. I am also a cat slave, and sometimes I stream on twitch with games and yell about Japanese swords.

CHARACTER: Beitang Moran
CANON: Oh! My Emperor
ELEVATOR PITCH FOR YOUR CHARACTER: Basically, he's the Imperial regent of sorts for his country because the Emperor, his brother, was killed and he had to raise his nephew, who is only a few years younger than him, to take over. So now he's trying to goad said nephew to do that, with the added complication that he and nephew are in love with the same girl. Oh, and sometimes, he can see the future which can be useful..... or not.
ICE BREAKER ROUNDS:
i. Here your character is, minding their own or someone else's business in a tavern of the Sa-Hareth merchants' arena, when in comes a particularly persistent middle-aged woman with an eerily trademark haircut, insisting your character should give her prompt, first-class and no-nonsense service now, or she'll speak to their manager. How does your character react? Invite her to go get the manager with a smile. By all means, madam.

ii. A weirdly hapless humanoid undead that thinks itself a dog keeps following your character (home). What does your character name it? /Hands over the whole matter to Xunxian, he does not have time for this, thank you very much. So I guess it'll end up named Darling, too, lol.

ETA : Moran's power when it's back is having random visions of the future that are technically always correct, he just has no idea of when they might happen and very little context for them. If you want to traumatize help your character, feel free to hit me up to have Moran have visions of their canon future if you like. Please note, though, that Moran is usually a bit reluctant to mention future visions because of the aforementioned lack of context. But his forehead glows when they happen so he can't very well hide it.
ANYTHING YOUR CHARACTER URGENTLY NEEDS FIGURED OUT IN SA-HARETH? 'need' is a strong word, but Moran is perpetually curious and in need of intellectual stimulation. The language barrier will be frustrating for him, but he'd be eager to try and figure out the geography, history and political situation, so getting to a relatively good command of the local language would be sort of a priority for him.

Also he'd probably take Xunxian because he can at least understand the language, so sorry this won't be an Aquarius only expedition.

Now that is some spiffy magic, pretty pretty prince. Can he predict stupid events, too? Utterly meaningless things?

It's never shown in his canon because TV drama, but I have absolutely played that in RP with him. Like him seeing the... sun.... rising... in the morning... groundbreaking. So I am absolutely up for him randomly seeing completely useless stuff.

(also the first time I played Dragon Age 2 was last year and I totally chose Merrill as my first romance choice)

I chose her my first playthrough, too! Then I hurt my heart and did another playthrough where Hawke hated her and yeah this is that version. According to her, any Hawke wooing her would have to be on red lyrium.

there's just one little trick to his vision. They must be from the future, and they are always accurate. Everything he sees does come to pass, it's not a 'try to avoid this event' kind if future vision. if he sees it, it will happen.

Then clearly the solution is to wait for it to happen, then immediately run and replace it before Merrill finds it dead! Flawless.

But seriously, a power like that will be wicked useful for plot material, and I am eager to use it! once I can brain actual ideas that aren't flowers haha.
