OCTOBER ACTIVITY CHECK

AC is done in-house, and you do not need to do anything unless your character is listed below. Please try to use character tags for posts and logs you tag into — it helps track your activity.

Regular activity requirements are one of the following during the AC month:

■ a network post
■ OR 10 text/network-style comments across at most two threads
■ OR five log comments across at most two threads

Activity can be carried out on either the game communities or character inboxes.

Under recent threat, donna Rigarda wastes no time to honour her pledge that her good friend, Taravast leader Bonaccorso, will send fresh supplies of the magical weapons he provides foreign undead forces in exchange for his citadel's safety. Rigarda herself sees to the necessary arrangements, within days of Hermione Granger and Anakin Skywalker's little espionage episode.

Shen Qingqiu and Eleven aren't exactly privy to these details on the fine morning when they're rallied by palace servants who abuse donna Rigarda's name to call on their services. Shen Qingqiu's reputation as a revolutionary surely means he knows a great deal about weapons and their safe shipment. Farming prodigy and equestrian wonder Eleven can meanwhile guide the handling of the horses during this fragile delivery. Willing or not, they're dragged out with a cart and small convoy — all disguised as merchants — to take a set of weapons to an undisclosed destination outside of Taravast.

Happily (?) for them, they only make it an hour's journey out of Taravast, before reaching a mountain desert where the convoy is attacked by a large group of 'raiders'. If you catch a very close glimpse of the leader of these assailants, he will be wearing the badge of one of Macaluso's captains, visible beneath his cloak. The 'raiders' accuse the convoy of trying to send weapons to the undead. The sentries assigned to guard the weapons shipment fight their attackers, but are inevitably outnumbered. One finally entrusts the reins of the cart and its two horses to Shen Qingqiu and Eleven, telling them to make sure the weapons get back to Rigarda. Wave goodbye to them — you're never seeing them again.

Shen Qingqiu and Eleven will suffer a close chase by six riders on the way back to Taravast, but they can lose their pursuers in the various citadel districts. Calling on your allies might be a good idea too. Rigarda does not know of Shen Qingqiu and Eleven's involvement with the shipment.

You have two options:
— take the weapons to Rigarda
— hide or destroy them

Have a think together, let me know what your characters would choose!

Either way, your weapon shipment includes: spiritual swords, some whips that spill fire or can crack ground, bows with arrows that turn to lightning once shot, spears that follow their target for about five to 10 minutes after being thrown, daggers drenched in incurable poisons that never hurt the wielder's hand, and, a personal favourite, three axes that can cut through anything, including the elements.

If you choose to keep the weapons, you will find Macaluso's soldiers are indiscreetly searching the citadel for something hint: your loot!, and you may have to hide, sell or melt the wares. Lily and Wei Wuxian have a small house, and Lee Change and Mingyu know of a warehouse, but there might be other options the party can help with too. You can also reach out to the Merchant, for help with logistics — he is, after all... a merchant. Worse comes to worst? Sink the weapons in one of the many canals.

NOTES:

- Let me know on what the gents will be doing with the weapons!

- Anakin/Hermione already played out their part, so you're welcome to play this out whenever! Ideally before the next event on 23 October.

- You're welcome to play this out alone or drag in whatever other characters you want, but if you can consider sharing with the playerbase that Rigarda just tried to send weapons to the dead abroad, and some other folks tried to stop it, that might be of interest!

- You can make up Shen Qingqiu's spirit sword all on your own, or subject yourself to my terrible humour. Likewise, if you want Eleven to get one spiritual weapon of some kind.

oh no that's delightful. knowing they're leaving those guys behind to die rip but also sending weapons to the undead. a cart chase, good old fashioned panic.

El would def feel awful for those people who presumably die telling them to take the weapons back but. knowing a thing about selling out the other citadels, suspect the information true and want to hide the weapons. for time being, he has one of Lily's extension charms handy where he keeps his swords on the regular. the size of a trash bag should fit em til they find somewhere else to hide them that's not directly on El's person even if they aren't visible.

Shen Qingqiu would probably want to save the weapons somewhere safe in case they needed them. Though he wouldn't know how to go about doing that in a way that would be safe for them.

Agreed there! Keep weapons safe, out of hands that would probably just try to resend them. Destroying them would be tragic and yes maybe they'll have use for them if the city is attacked on their watch orrr else later sometime possibly.

I think El is likely to call up Lily for help if neither of them figure something out on the fly. Teleportation and help hiding things pls.

It's Fine. The decision definitely won't drive El to stress crying once he finds out about the potential consequences

okay! so how do we want to thread this? thinking maybe a log with two parts? like part one, with.. wherever we want to start with this prompt- meeting, the conflict, or the escaping part

then a latter prompt for Lily (and maybe others if they come up ICly?) to thread out hiding/stashing weapons?

or it could all be one thread. just sort out where we wanna start at. lemme know!

I like the idea of a log, and two parts can work! (Do you think they should reach out to others in general like a network post or just individuals like Lily specifically?)

I was thinking it could start off on their way there, like, they just got put with the horses and wagons and are off on the road, but still sort of letting it sink in, if that makes sense?

Yeah! and if there's two parts, we can take our time threading out the first without worrying about not getting to the vital bit.

re: possible network post or specifically Lily- I think we'll see what they end up deciding ICly. calling out to Lily specifically is just what I think is probably to happen atm but who knows, El is malleable so if Shen Qingqiu proposes something else or a network post with good reasoning, he could go along with it. Guess we'd just start the second part where they've made it back to the city and working to duck guards with the weapons and see where that goes?

I think he would want to reach out to someone specifically but also would probably say something vague and worrying on the network.

And yeah, the second part can be back in the city trying to figure out what to do.

How do you feel about poison?

El sadly lacks proficiency in any other weapon besides swords (and shields) ~~otherwise he'd be coveting that bow~~ so broadsword it is unless something else truly called to him.

An actual spirit would be very interesting I think. Not something he's contended with before, and could lead to interesting broadened cr. Not sure about curses? I'd be worried he wouldn't want to keep it if it feels too dark/cursed

El is not fond of poison :(

I mean, El wouldn't get to pick, if the sword bonded with him, it's more what you think would be fun to play with — if you want the lil dude spending a few weeks trying to get rid of his cursed sword or exorcising it, we can totally do that.
