i would think it more of a warning. i can and will eat everything so spicy is good with me, but i know not everyone can eat it. they need to know that if someone doesn't like it, to not cook it. cause otherwise you'll have someone who wants to eat and cannot, and someone who wants to share their love of cooking and can't. imagine putting all that work into cooking something and no-one can eat it.
