Hi, everyone! Two parts to today’s party:

JUNE JAZZ

Check out our latest plot roll & NPC thread options for June, for which you’ll receive full details on Wednesday, 22 June. You can sign up your characters for the quest of your choice until 18:00 GMT on 21 June.

■ We’ll need at least two characters signed up for a roll to carry it out. Quests that receive more than five sign-ups may need us to RNG a character who gets final call on any decision-making within the quest.

■ Try to be available to play things out with your quest-mates between 22 June – 5 July.

■ If you’re looking short on time in that period, it might be easier to offer support to characters who are leading a plot roll, without signing up.

■ Please share the information you get with the group at large through network posts.

As a heads-up for folks who’ve never done one of these — you may get offered follow-up quests, items or plot development because you helped out with a plot roll. You can always opt out of that.

CHARACTER & CANON: Number Five Hargreeves / The Umbrella Academy

THEIR ONE-SENTENCE ELEVATOR PITCH: Cranky elderly teen with a reputation for murder/teleporting/bad-time travel, obsessed with his family and taking things too far.
HOW THEY END A TERRIBLE DATE: His only love is a mannequin, and Dolores was usually the one to end them when they got into an argument by... not talking to him... for a while. She always forgave him because they were in love.
THE (SPITEFUL?) THOUGHT THAT GETS THEM THROUGH THE DAY: He can fix it.

WHAT’S THE EASIEST WAY TO…
...IRRITATE THEM: Any reference to his child-situation, disagree with his math, make bad coffee, insult his siblings in a way he hasn't approved of, any talk about time travel, this list could go on.
...EARN THEIR AFFECTION: Be useful and find logical solutions, help his siblings in a significant way that he's not immediately suspicious of, make good coffee.
...SHOCK THEM: Usually happens when he finds out that he's not the only one familiar with age-regression. Still shocking.

WHAT SHIP DO THEY MOSTLY HANG OUT ON? He can teleport and he'll bop around wherever he pleases thanks, but whichever ship his siblings prefer is going to be his home base.

WHAT ARE THEY UP TO? Making new science friends and refocusing on time travel because that's always a great idea.

CR/SCENARIOS YOU WANT: People who want to supply him with alcohol after he's called a child (he's getting such a complex while zero-caring about it), science-types(!) who want to help him tinker and definitely be bossed around, murder situations that take a turn. People who call him on shit and/or actually want to befriend this guy. Open to all the positive or negative CR it's all good stuff.

Can't believe this is the one person in the whole game who knows about Hermione's experience with torture. Now that he'd finally understand why she has nightmares they're not even housed together anymore. SAD

Please take this as confirmation that I will continue to pursue the avenue of Hermione and Five are actually twins.

Trauma recognizes trauma?? Five got attached to Hermione in a weird way, so don't think he'll stop blinking into her room whenever he feels like even if they aren't technically roommates anymore. He's got zero concept of personal space so it's not totally unlikely he'd see her after nightmares ah.

They are fully twins, just waiting for the time they both say the same thing at the same moment and Five's family have that shared look of Concern. Turns out Five is just Hermione in 40 years.

Five is just Hermione in 40 years - brilliant, underappreciated, underestimated, full of trauma and coffee? Give her a week near his caffeine stash and she can be Five now, tbh. But oh yes good, thank you Sheep.

Pester her. She can start a lab again one day, and then tell him she's mislabeled items so he won't nick them. Make him a lil lab coat if he wants to be her brewing assistant.

Five would be surprised to hear! Moran is too smart and has too much dirt on him, so he's still going to be keeping an eye.

But in general, he appreciates how he's morally rational and he's been weirdly understanding of his little mishaps. Just come at him the next time you want to rob someone, it'll be like old times.

THEIR ONE-SENTENCE ELEVATOR PITCH: Long-suffering mutant dad with a soap opera's worth of relationship baggage and flashlight hands.
HOW THEY END A TERRIBLE DATE: Hey he's a romantic, he has Great Dates, but also he is prone to storming off as the situation calls if the date takes a dark turn. Actual experience flipping tables.
THE (SPITEFUL?) THOUGHT THAT GETS THEM THROUGH THE DAY: That he and Lorna are going to go back home to their infant daughter someday and forget all about how terrible this place is.

WHAT’S THE EASIEST WAY TO…
...IRRITATE THEM: He's a mutant so he has a lot of your assorted Mutant Baggage, if he sees anyone being openly persecuted or bullied he's jumping right on that. Refusing to work as a team.
...EARN THEIR AFFECTION: Marcos warms up to people pretty easily, especially if he can tell that they've had a rough life. Showing any sort of kindness to strangers and he'll probably like you. Be nice to Lorna. Any mention of kids...
...SHOCK THEM: Marcos is not magical, all kinds of stuff here shocks him. Lately in a good way! You guys stopped a volcano he's not over it.

WHAT SHIP DO THEY MOSTLY HANG OUT ON? The Pariah, he goes where Lorna goes okay.

WHAT ARE THEY UP TO? He hasn't done too much on the travel arc yet, but he might start asking around soon about wtf is going on here and if they need to be worried about getting cursed again. Wondering if the Merchant is manipulating them, etc.

CR/SCENARIOS YOU WANT: Happy for anything, but the guy is pretty capable and works good in a team so he's mostly been a support player. He'd be great to bond over missing family, bad home situations, religion, yadda yadda. Come at him if you need backup for danger plans. Marcos has a talent for dealing with unsavory people of questionable morals, and I haven't played with that too much, so do feel free to conspire with him as you like.

i will take EITHER marcos or five (BOTH??). marcos was nice to viktor so he probably wants to, you know, repay that if he ever needs a science guy for anything

but also viktor and five should talk about science. and magic. but mostly science.

Both! Marcos is a good guy, he'd want to check in on him from time to time you know. Viktor seems like the kind of person he needs to look out for ahem.

And 1000% yes. Five needs to talk. Let him explain the logic of teleporting and time travel, he might be one of the few to get it. He obviously needed someone with a bent towards real physics to finally solve this 'how to magic' thing he's been so stuck on. It will definitely only lead to great things.
