PLOT ROLLS | JUNE
Hello, hello! The latest plot rolls are now live, linked below. They cover events between 22 June and 5 July.
As a reminder: everyone can participate, even if you didn't sign up. The recommendation is to choose one plot roll, to avoid getting overwhelmed — but no one's the boss of you.
You can make your own network posts, or play things out in the logs linked below.
NPC threads have been allocated, but threads will go up within the next few hours — you'll receive a relevant link at the time.
Feel free to use this post for all your plotting needs.
- ■ THE SUNKEN | LOG | Questions | Plotting
■ THE DISSENT | LOG | Questions | Plotting
■ THE CONCORD | LOG | Questions | Plotting
■ THE PRIESTS | LOG | Questions | Plotting
While much of the events overlap in terms of timeline, loosely you are looking at: the Sunken (towards the edges of the Crossing), the Concord, then the Priests (as the ships deepen their journey into the Crossing). The Dissent takes place more broadly throughout.
ASK THE DEAD
Except we totally talk about dead things.
Ask at most two-three questions/characters of the spirit you end up parlaying with here. Please be specific.
To keep things plot timely, let's aim for last questions by end of play on 2 July.

1. Can you describe the 'woken dead' from the heart of the Crossing?
2. Why did the woken dead allow your spirit to go free?
Iiiif he gets an answer to #2 that makes sense to ask this final question, it'll be: 3. What spirits did not escape? But that's so circumstantial I don't know that it'll be relevant.

1. They are decaying dead men who somehow move and speak. Some retain awareness, others are animal. Some have a dar, tar-like liquid stitching together their wounds. They simultaneously seem to want to kill people, then appear surprised when they've succeeded — as if they unexpectedly ruined their toys while examining their bones and limbs.
2. It doesn't seem as if the woken dead can really control the spirits in any way. They're only interested in flesh-bodies. They make no gesture to trap, kill or injure the spirits.

Thank you! I'll try tossing that up in a network post too in the next few days, looking at what it says.

1. What does this spirit know about the 'unthinkable power' that lures so many to the Crossing?
2. Do they know of Caladan or Quicksilver and their aims in choosing this path, as well?
The second question might tie into the first, but still.

1. This has been part of the mystery of the region for travellers — some assumed this power were some great weapon, others the ability to control the sea, others gold, so on. What they can say with clarity is that they didn't encounter or wield it, but that there was a great race to secure it, among everyone from governments to pirates, lone heroes of the sea and the Dawn's Reach Trade Company. Everyone with money, skill or luck to spare would put it towards this pursuit, although fewer and fewer contenders emerged as the Crossing began claiming ships and gaining its reputation.
2. Not exactly. But they can share that Quicksilver Sam has been here before, with the vessel Storm at Sea. They haven't seen Caladan in these parts before.
Re: Caladan — I'd encourage Anduin's player, Kaneki's and you to stitch up what you got from your NPC threads ICly if possible, because you actually have the full answer already! It's just in scattered parts.

His questions would be:
1. Do all that pass away in the Crossing become spirits, or did some of the others become the walking dead perhaps?
2. Why were they drawn to the Pariah?
3. Do they know what it is that is keeping them here in the Crossing?
no subject
1. They estimate some spirits linger, some sometimes resuscitate dead bodies, while others simply vanish.
2. They are typically drawn to any sign of life, but there is something within the Pariah that's very similar to what's keeping them below, within the sea. They can't well say what, but they're instantly drawn to it, and they are partially haunting the deck with an eye to find it.
3. They suspect it's either the cursed region itself, or the power that everyone hunted to start with.

IF I WERE TO make a post for infosharing of this, are all of these plots happening simultaneously? I just want to figure out when to date things/set it for the best timing of everything!

1. Was there anything of note that happened before the captains suddenly tried to crash the ships?
2. When did ships began coming to the Crossing for this 'unthinkable power'?
3. And, prior to that, did anyone come through here?
no subject
We'll have to assume it's the spirit of a sailor whose captain crashed his ship — or else, he wouldn't know the answer to #1:
1. Mostly, the captain the spirit observed seemed to have completely lost awareness of himself and of his surroundings, as if he were a man possessed. The crew assumed that the captain was only rattled by the hauntings, and they were surprised when the crash occurred. It seemed sudden, especially as they had gotten very close to the middle of the Crossing region, relatively unharmed.
2. The Crossing has been sailed before, and had its aura of danger and uncertainty like every semi-remote location — but the explorations, deaths and hauntings only truly started to pick up in the last five years.
3. I won't make this one of your three questions, but — basically, you can't ask a spirit a question about a period when they weren't in the Crossing, they wouldn't really know. Seems unfair to make this one of your three queries, so we won't log it.

Though for three I was more meaning if there were any records of successful crossings. Though I am also perfectly fine with holding off on it. I have no other questions, haha.
Also...interesting! Five years huh... :|a
