arc v: alem | cr & plotting meme
Sound the drums, head on to war — seized citadel Alem has already been there for the lion's share of a year.
Under the Scavengers' guidance, the four sand worms the party captured gently graze underground corridors allowing the group to reach halfway up Mount Attevar. From there, they quickly infiltrate Alem through a bustling trade route.
Young King Deimar strikes a simple bargain: serve Alem in its bitter last days until inevitable downfall, and the citadel will grant access to its Beacon before the final evacuation is completed.
Sounds simple enough. Now, survive it.

Hahaha he's drama version as it is anyhow, but he still retains the heart of spice is life yunmeng style, and doesn't understand cooking if there's not anachronistic chili flakes or oil in everything. everything. A FEAST FOR BURNING he adores it already
wowowowowowowow
wow
he's only resurrecting a dead mom here, okay, he's baby at this!!!

Spicy food is great. You'll have to introduce stephanivien to it sometime.
A baby! My deepest condolences for whoever keeps interrupting "every day means everyday" and your nuptial bliss then.
....also didn't you resurrect like your old classmate that one time? I thought he got a fancy name out of it and everything.

one day
one day they'll figure it out BUT ANYWAY
yeah so a big difference you find between drama and novel/animation/comic is there's no necromancy involved with bodies, and thus no zombies -- no resurrection at all, by technical necessity. (to pass censorship, and meet the need for the lack of desecration of bodies of the dead.) so! he deals with dead spirits rather than anything else, and he does keep his should-be-dead-now-just-almost-died-and-was-heavily-possessed-by-angry-dead-souls classmate going, up to the point where his consciousness is brought back forward and he's now in control instead of the dead-angry-spirits who cohabitate in his body. which is... worse in various ways, sobs, the mechanics of all this
which makes it hilarious, because he had to learn game-specific style resurrection last year to deal with the need for resurrection... because he's not his novel version LMFAO

That totally makes sense wrt the censorship and stuff for broadcast, I hadn't considered that, and also holy shit that is so much worse, Wen Ning will you ever catch a break, cripes
Learning new skills! As should we all. That's actually hilarious tho. I really would like to try to get back to watching it
I did watch the tie-in movie w/ NMJ because he's my favebut I'm so bad at Watching Things. I will have to try and bump this up on my list once I acquire the spoonsno subject
Yeah, Wen Ning gets so much... more horrible, and he even has added backstory of! Having part of his soul taken away as a kiddo by the Fairy of the Mountain Statue because now that's a Dafan Mountain Wen thing, so the reason he's easier for resentful energies/spirits to invade is because he literally... doesn't have an intact soul. Which means he can't reincarnate even if he lived a not-possessed life? It's ??? why do we make Wen Ning suffer more
Nie Mingjue is fantastic and we should all nod our appreciation to him! It's a fun watch, pretty much a great way to take it is a fun adaptation that has some nonsense moments that are pure easter egg, and it's reworked to fit censorship needs while still getting quite a bit in there you'd be surprised by, perhaps! but yeah it's a long go, and at least half the series is in the "past" which is a bit awkwardly framed as a flashback starting in the first ep/two episodes... and ending around ep 30 of 52? exact numbers flee me right now
BUT YES it did help i watched with a friend so we could comment at each other the whole time, soblaughs
