Sound the drums, head on to war — seized citadel Alem has already been there for the lion's share of a year.

Under the Scavengers' guidance, the four sand worms the party captured gently graze underground corridors allowing the group to reach halfway up Mount Attevar. From there, they quickly infiltrate Alem through a bustling trade route.

Young King Deimar strikes a simple bargain: serve Alem in its bitter last days until inevitable downfall, and the citadel will grant access to its Beacon before the final evacuation is completed.

Sounds simple enough. Now, survive it.

I do want Wrathion to go over the edge at some point this arc, as I've reigned in his more intense behaviours so far. I feel as if he should absolutely try to do something all on his own and suffer regret. Maybe some time at the end of the arc he can try to 1v1 Irena, or maybe he can over meddle and misjudge something in a critical way. IDK, open to ideas, but for the basic part I'm sure he'll be suckered in by handsome, frail royal who only wants peace. What's up with humans being so fragile, and why do people have to remind him? Thanks, he hates it.

WHAT THEY CAN OFFER:

- For new characters, Wrathion has been here long enough to be able to fill in a lot of stuff going on and good (bad) news: he LOVES to talk! He can tell you about their undead adventures and the Merchant.
- Wrathion is a dragon, and thus a natural user of magic and he loves to talk about magic. If you want to talk shop about magical things he is game. He's keeping the dragon bit on the down low, though, because he's low on trust. You gotta build up a good reputation with him to get that!
- Wrathion has a tailoring kit, if you need an emergency outfit modification!
- Wrathion is also an enchanter/crafter in general, if you need something done.
- If you have a young character who is always overlooked for their age, I can guarantee Wrathion will just treat them like a short adult!
- If you need someone to sit in a corner and complain with, and judge people's outfits with, and to discuss how nobody is as smart as you are: as long as you include him he's down

- Friends! Wrathion is naturally very aloof, he will absolutely die before admitting weakness. People who are patient enough to penetrate the aloof veneer will find he changes tactic and will instead die before letting anyone touch you.

✔ Investigating the Reaper: I'm crossing fingers to be fully available to sink my teeth into this and have him reach out for Anything Suspicious people are noticing, because 'sudden murders' with a pattern aren't typically the Mother Nature brand. Would anyone like to divide & conquer investigation leads and be cop buddies?

✔ ...sniffing around the Seal room of the Gut's Bind. He would try to add his own purification reinforcements to actual hell, if given the chance.

✔ Is your character a sad, lonely, deteriorating but inevitably main-character-syndrome attractive necromancer/undead? And they're falling under Rakkathu's control? Lan Wangji is here to play you a soothing but quickly repetitive cleansing song to help ease you back to yourself. Forever. The one song. Looped.

► He has a protective shield that can freeze an attacker in place for 10 seconds (can only use it once per day, but handy in a tricky situation!)
► Will offer himself up as distraction/protection willingly in sticky situations
► The Doctor's physiology is unique so he can take an intense beating and recover waaaay better than humans, so when he says he can be a shield and you shouldn't follow him, he really means this (nobody listens to him though!). He also has heightened senses (hearing, smell, taste) so he's good investigating things
► Persistent optimism
► ...equally, blunt realism at times (of the "everything's going to be fine but I'm definitely lying" variety)

PLOTS AND PLANS: Fending off harpies at 150m above ground, up in the mountain. Flinging hexes, curses and defensive spells out in equal measure. Could Apparate to another tower, but there's a risk of accidentally missing by 1m and plummeting to the ground so oops better not. Defense, defense, defense!

WHAT THEY CAN OFFER: Violence. Magic, a dwindling supply of potions she hasn't restocked since before leaving Serthica, water that she can conjure via spell. A good distraction for harpies probably, look at all her hair.

Anduin is a healer and therefore to be protected wherever he goes AND I'd really like to play with that! Healing people, chafing a bit at having to be guarded everywhere he moves but also understanding why. His #1 priority is helping people and he can't do that if anything happens to him after all. ALSO -- he is tasked with healing the Crown Prince and having been a crown prince himself before, and what with how very similar he is to him at that, I'm looking forward to playing with both of those things as well!

WHAT THEY CAN OFFER:
- HEALING - obviously this is #1 on the list but this is his time to shine. Anduin heals with MAGIC (the Light, technically) so he is able to heal you 100% from most injuries (or we can work out how healed you want to be)
- Infosharing! Anduin loves to stick his nose where it may not exactly belong and learn everything he can. He's been here for a fairly long time and if he doesn't know a thing, he knows someone who should. He (and I) love to brainstorm theories and go wild
- Being soft, gentle, and understanding in the midst of chaos. If you need someone to talk to or a shoulder to lean on, he's your guy.
- Being a terrible assignment to guard... He will likely give you a headache.

CR YOU WANT:
- Friends! Anduin could really use more people for HIM to lean on and open up to in return sometimes (he does not do this enough)
- People who come to him for healing! or to talk to! People who would turn to him in a crisis really
- Deep Conversations, maybe this goes with the last two but I really enjoy pushing Anduin into these. Either about the plot or about himself/home/magic. I just want to really make him THINK and QUESTION things and/or nerd out with people on a topic
- I also enjoy CR with people who maybe do not necessarily "get" Anduin, or think he is too soft. This frustrates him and pushes him in different directions than he might otherwise go.
- ALSO HIS GUARDS and the people at the watch tower with him, let's do some things together! He can heal you or be a terrible person to guard tbh as he runs around and gets himself into trouble, he's bad at listening to directions (just ask his guards at home...)

✥Will definitely be feeling out Deimar's position but most probably will continue to back him unless he uncovers something truly unsavory.
✥ Sleuthing! The man can be quite clever in poking about plots as necessary. Also, down to scavenge for stuff all the time. He'll use it for more inventions of things.

WHAT THEY CAN OFFER:
✥ Anyone on the defense force can probably swing a free magic gun at minimum. Seriously. He'll call them "necessary government military supplies" and write them off on his taxes.

- She's had a very rough time lately and came in with some pretty gnarly injuries, which she had Stephanivien carve out and cauterize. (Long story.) Feel free to have seen this lunatic pushing herself to the brink of collapse, at least until she slept in a snail shell for a while. Maybe you made her take a break!
- But actually, she should probably see someone about that.
- Tess is riding the high of what she sees as a pretty sweet deal back home –– she's going to get a shit ton of guns as payment for smuggling a child to a revolutionary group that plans to make a vaccine out of her bodily immunity. Surely nothing will go wrong. As a result, she's eager to help out and do whatever it takes to get home to her prize; she's pumped to jump in.
- Guess who has spent the bulk of the past few years living in a walled city living under near-constant siege by zombies? This gal. I would love to have her poke around with the undead, if anyone has any openings, but on the same token, she's going to want to make herself right at home.

- Someone who isn't afraid of taking risks. Need someone for something risky, and Tess is there (as long as she feels compensated, but even getting opportunities opened up is enough for her.)

PLOTS AND PLANS: Nothing too specific! Very fine with taking this setting and running with it if you want to have some horrible times to bond over later. Five is already naturally paranoid and half-insane going in, so it doesn't take much. Also good for coming up with great plans that involve extreme solutions, he's at this point.

WHAT THEY CAN OFFER: Five is intelligent and resourceful, and a trained killer, who can teleport and has a high tolerance for suffering. He's also very small and he's aware of this, just try to keep him out of places. There's little he can't get into that isn't magically warding him out. (And FYI he has two magic body parts in his possession that can summon Anurr and a kraken respectively and everyone has always been fine about this.)

I'm very much on board for tankman Strange having to magic-wrestle an undead dragon, this is exactly the kind of thing he would love to literally never have to do and yet here he is, capable and unenthused. He's got that helpless heroism locked in so points to eyes points to the skies let's have a fun time keeping Irenia from freezing everybody and ourselves to death, team!

You better believe this man will be doing his job. Fellow South Towerers, let's go!

You also better believe he will not be standing on that tower 24 hrs a day so people elsewhere, let's also go!

He'll offer himself out on magical loan for people in need of his help, mostly with keeping warm and moving around the citadel safely/secretly.

Can possibly also be found surreptitiously stealing things from merchants for people who need them and can't afford the prices, you just never know.

WHAT THEY CAN OFFER:

A great many spells. Truly, too many. Too many spells. If you need a rescue in a pinch, or a big area cleared, chances are he's got you.

Instant travel via portal. To keep this interesting his portal spell will have certain limits, but when open anyone can travel through his portals! He'll make himself pretty available for playing taxi for important journeys provided he isn't urgently required at the dragon relocation station.

The Cloak of Levitation. It's a flying cloak! If it likes you, it can and will catch you when you fall.

Honestly just so much magic.

A terrifying (usually closed) third eye & a handy amulet that can both help him to see supernatural nonsense. They may not actually be of any use regarding the supernatural mysteries here, but if it comes up he may offer to be the UV light to your crime scene.

Technically a doctor so... in a pinch... he can help you provided the help doesn't require too much precision

— tbh the man is coming out of his own literal hell on earth scenario ( into the fires of the burning sun in the dessert crossing ) and back into a citadel on top of alleged hell so. he has a lot of questions? notably, why should he be helping??? he's going to be wrestling with that one, and at having a "mission" at all in alem. if anyone wants to craptalk and/or drink, or both, he'll be looking for it.
— EXPLORING! i have no set in stone plans of where he'll be wandering but he'll want to know his exits and weak spots.
— if anyone wants to do joint side quests to prove themselves to the people of alem, spike will be most moved by children and women.
— any fighting whatsoever. any undead sneak through and he's all over bodily throwing himself into a little chaos.

WHAT THEY CAN OFFER:
— comedic relief! he can do a 180 from dire to ridiculous, if anyone needs a break from the doom and gloom. trust, there will be a silly, goofy man doing silly, goofy stuff in at least one of his threads/starters.
— he's an experienced fighter and will protect people, regardless of a lack of experience in traditional armies. he's a good guy to have around, considering he can take a beating and survive most mortal wounds that others might not. he's not invulnerable, though, so i'm open to team-ups and rescues.
— weird vampire shenanigans if anyone's into that. i imagine there will be a lot of blood about.
— passive aggressive remarks to player characters who word vomit about how much they hate the undead. he has feelings.

CR YOU WANT:
— he's so spanking new that i don't have HUGE immediate plans but friends, frenemies, found family, and mutually-agreed upon feeding partners are eventual goals.
