AND THEN THEY WERE ROOMMATES

Dusty, crammed, stale — you've hit the real estate jackpot with your recent abode. And you're even #blessed with roommates.

o1. Post a top level with some of your character's quirky, funny, sad or standout domestic habits everyone can enjoy. ( "That fourth lizard tail's a bit awkward." "They're always stealing everyone's fancy conditioner." "That guy, watching you sleep." )

o2. Tag around with your character's IC reactions: questions, passive aggressive post-its, gentle encouragements to stop watering that plant, wholesome suggestions, etc.

o3. Threads can stay game canon — break the ice on some new CR. Why not?

[• he has. so much hair. it gets everywhere. how does he not strangle himself in all of it when he sleeps. a mystery.

• the shower drain always gets clogged

• any brush in his vicinity has been claimed by his hair

• he takes a long ass time in the bathroom every day...

• ...but he sleeps in as much as possible so that may not be as tragic as it sounds

• if you're sharing a bed he definitely hogs the covers

• and he probably snores

• I'm sorry he has redeeming qualities I swear]

[ - Writes on every blank surface he can reach with crazy-man equations.
- Currently addicted to magic marshmallow-scented candles that help keep him awake. Puts them everywhere and leaves them burning so he can pace while he's thinking.
- Avoids sleep because 'he's working'.
- (Related) Always has coffee on. Drinks too much alcohol. Bad eating habits, but at least he's not picky if given anything resembling food.
- No concept of personal space. Especially if you're doing anything he's genuinely curious about. (Magic...)
- Teleports everywhere, because he can. No distance too short.
- If he does fall asleep, he definitely has apocalypse nightmares and waking him has consequences.
- He might steal your things because he forgets that people have their own stuff.
- Pretty quiet! In search of other roommates who mind their business and don't have a habit of dying. ]

[ - has made too many cups of tea; constantly forgets she made herself a cup, abandons it and makes a fresh batch
- this hair? shedding so much, the bathroom drains will never recover; she diligently picks up after herself, but you might find her hair in places anyway
- can sew, mend and clean things by magic - for all it's worth down here
- is passive aggressive when people chew with their mouths open near her (it would be NICE if she could DISTINGUISH what you're saying, thank you)
- on the bright side, never be cold again with the Heating Charm TM ]

( - he's a sleep snuggler. he nuzzles.
- he will sleep in wolf form if it's more space-saving, enjoy the fur
- he will comment on things he smells on you, casually
- he has no body shame and bathes at irregular hours so congrats on whatever you walk in on
- will hand off random children to you when they're being a nuisance. did you ask? he does not care
- always. flirting. always flirting.
- always disappears at cooking times, does help with meal cleanup )

sleeps basically just 1 hour per week and gets bored/impatient easily so this means:
- why are you still sleeping there are things to do, wake up and entertain me
- tells you stories you didn't ask for and probably don't want to hear, about everything, anything; Robot Kings, Daleks, Cybermen, that time he accidentally got married to Marilyn Monroe, his opinions on cheese, his sojourn in Paris in the...17th century (? or was it 18th?) when he learned to cook (questionable)
- may or may not watch you sleep if you do anything interesting in your sleep (talk, snore, twitch)
requests pillow fights often

has no concept of boundaries or personal space

constantly tinkering with everything he can get his hands on

depending on what's available, he's probably invented something new (a toy for the kids that's loud & obnoxious); maybe something helpful but probably something that's just fun

communal showers are practical and why would anyone be bothered about nakedness, it's natural

makes the most bizarre food combinations/concoctions that probably taste good to at least one other person

constantly playing with the children/inventing new games and giving them sugar

when he does actually sleep (which is only about an hour at a time), he would not sleep normally in a bed, but you'd probably find him standing up against a wall or hunched over a book; basically like a toddler that refuses to admit they need sleep

- sleeps in late, will repeatedly fall back asleep with no clear and present danger
- habitually drinking on the roof, rotating cast of who's with him
- has his own scribbled notes that he mostly keeps contained in the absolute chaos of his room; roommates are the ones likely to shovel them away
- will offer to cook
- don't let him, he's found the spice, and here it's just pepper
- manages to bathe daily, somehow. will let children but not his husband comb his hair
- ............................................................ yeah he might be accidentally haunting the house and also being used as a climbing gym by children of a certain age )

[ - insists upon a proper nighttime skincare regime, even here. It's five steps. she hates interruptions.
- sleeps wherever, so unless a bed has someone in it or is claimed, she might fall asleep there; also handles interruptions and fractured sleep schedules with aplomb but hates early mornings.
- she sprawls. if someone ends up in bed with her, they will likely get kicked and/or left a tiny corner of the bed. she also hogs the blankets.
- she will do her nails every few days and leaves her nail file just lying around. sorry.
- do not let her cook, it will be burned. also she will use the stove to brew tinctures and will drag people to help her trim herbs and bundle them up.
- she gives very good deep-tissue massages
- she brews a very good cup of tea
- she will knock out anyone who looks like they need sleep. ]

[ - honestly, he's probably really easy to live with
- he'll offer to cook, though his food ends up bland because he doesn't trust himself to add the right amount of seasoning, seeing as how he can't see
- he'll offer to do any other chores, too! sweeping, laundry, basket-mending, etc
- he lets the kids climb on him and play with his hair, but he's also really uncreative so they may get bored of him quickly
- this man will sleep literally anywhere (he sleeps in a coffin back home, don't worry about it). you want his bed? okay, he'll just go to the couch. oh, someone else wanted that? no worries, the floor is more comfortable than it looks
- he does sleep with his blindfold on since there are so many people around. no one wants to see sunken eye sockets, especially not the kids. he knows that must be really frightening.
- it takes him a few days to mentally map out the mouse house, so do forgive him if he bumps into doorways or walls or you, he'll get the hang of it soon enough.
- at this point his sleep cycle is probably all kinds of fucked up, but if he's awake at ungodly hours, at least he's quiet and keeps to himself!]

[ - Would rather do his wife's hair but keeps his own well taken care of too.
- Always wears a smile.
- Plays with the children of Mouse House and keeps them well fed.
- Will stay up late playing his xiao.
- Will cook for those that want fed.
- Whittles with his metal hairstick.
- Takes care of those that need it.
- Also enjoys his wine and will share.]

[- up at all times of day and night probably with his nose in a book

- tends to forget to eat when engrossed in something

- so much high quality tea

- a bit too used to people doing stuff for him (being royalty means you kind of expect people to just know what you need and provide it before you ask)

- gives random very lavish gifts, get used to being spoiled.]

[- DO NOT LET HIM INTO THE KITCHEN under any circumstances, unless you want to, like, die

- quite proficient at cleaning and DIY and basic household duties

- if you need furniture moved, he's your man. God. Whatever you want to call him.

- might end up collecting sharp objects because he's a sword jock.

- murphy's law incarnate. if something can go wrong, it will.]

[ - The big spoon. This is not up for discussion.
- She's in good enough with the kids that they'll snitch to her if you upset them.
- Up at the break of day to train, will try to offer hand to hand lessons to anyone she thinks needs a means to protect themselves.
- Bar fights are her hobby, she comes back late.
- Or she's another one who gets drunk on the roof.
- She's not cooking. You're welcome. ]

( – either sleeps deeply, snuffling cutely into his pillow or Jim's shoulder, or he doesn't sleep at all. the latter is more and more common.

– has an herbal tisane every morning. plus side, he's not contagious! downside, he smells a little like a grandmother's potpourri. grumbles about how much better the sweet tea at home is

– scalding hot showers, you're welcome for the steam bath. at least he's quick

– always journaling, possibly about you and your (apparent) health

– skipped breakfast again, accidentally. probably lunch, too...

– but guess what, he'll damn well make sure you're fed. enjoy that. )
